RS 15-2103 silly question

Post by tase2 »

I believe this is a JP1 compatable remote. If so where and how do I plug in the cable, I don't see a place to put it.

Thanks

it is jp1 capable, but it doesn't have a connector.

search yahoo for 4 wire interface. I built the rj11 version, works great.

IMHO, with the time, expense, and skill required to make the 2103 JP1 compatible, I just don't think it's worth it (and I have 2 of 'em).

If you're still interested, check out the Stereo-15-2103.txt file. There's also some pictures in the Photos section.

Mark is probably right. It was pretty tricky soldering on the board.

Mark, was it you that came up with the rj11 version?

Nope... I did, however, use a 4-cond stereo jack on one of mine to bring the RESET line out to the interface.

And I agree... cutting and/or soldering to traces on the PCB is difficult. All in all, it's better to spend $20-$30 for one of the current popular models (8810w, 2116/2117, etc) that are JP1 out of the box and are better supported by the group.

I just got a 2117 a couple days ago at RS, on the shelf at $49.95, but it rings up for $29.95. Seems to be a fine remote. I like it better than the 8810w or the 2104. It just feels better in the hand, and the buttons are better for operating without looking at the keys.
