Why do I need it?
The document
http://www.John-Wasser.com/OFA/SerialCable.html
covers how to physically connect your OFA-URC to a serial port but
that is only half the story.
Once you have hooked your One-For-All Universal Remote Control to
the serial port of a computer, you will need some software to tell
the URC what to do.
Where can I Buy it?
You can buy some rudimentary software, including source code, and a programmer's
manual from Home Automation Systems
(http://www.smarthome.com/)
.
You can get their catalog by sending your full mailing address to
catalog@smarthome.com or
by calling them at 800-SMART-HOME (800-762-7846).

What about ShareWare?
There are several ShareWare programs available for controlling OFA-URC's.
One popular set of programs is called IRDC (Infrared Direct Control?),
written by David Huras
(davidhuras@inforamp.net). The DOS

How can I Write My Own?
A good starting point is to purchase the basic software sources and
programmer's reference from Home Automation Systems (See above). If
you want to start from scratch you can start by reading what "Ziggy"
has to say at Zig's Amazing IR Remote Control Page.
He has taken the time to write up the protocols.
Here is one part of the puzzle to get you started:
