Remember the first time you picked up a RS1994 remote? Oooo silky smooth!
Since then, UEI has been putting that rubber coating on a lot of the high end remotes - including some Xsight Touch remotes that went through a rough time in China.
After time, this coating can start to break down and get sticky.
To fix this:
1. Clean the area with water and a cloth towel and dry
2. Rub in a coating of talcum (baby) powder thoughly
3. Repeat 1&2.
4. Wait 10 minutes
5. Remove excess powder with damp towel gently
6. Good as new! (well better than before anyway)
Useful for other electronics with this coating too - eg Thinkpad.

I cleaned the grossest sticky kameleon remote with wd40. I did that 8 years ago and it has not gotten sticky again. Granted i dont use the remote except for testing so it doesnt get handled a lot but it was really gross before i cleaned it. No hint of the stickyness remains. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

I won't use WD40 to clean sticky messes, but would recommend carbeurator cleaner. it cleans greasy stuff and if very volatile so evaporates quickly. |

Both WD40 and carb cleaner are good for cleaning off sticky stuff - but that won't work for rubber powder coat - it will just wipe away another layer of the rubber exposing more.
