Faster Macros - JP1.2 remotes w/o Extenders

Post by jetskier »

I've been rambling on about this in the other threads. This question only applies until someone has the time to build an extender. It's hard to use these remotes in basic mode once you have used an extender in the JP1 remotes.

Is there a protocol I can load to change the execution speed of the macros in the x820 series remotes. I'd imagine there is a location in the memory/code somewhere where you can store a couple bytes that changes the execution speed of the macros. The hard part is finding that address.

A special thanks to Binky123 for preparing a protocol and upgrade for speeding up my macros!! They run as fast as the extenders do now.

Where is Binky when we need him?

I too would like to have the macro speed up code for the xx820 series remotes. I've looked through the Files section but didn't find it there.

Any chance that jetskier or Binky123 can help us out with this?

I found this file https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3536 that contains the device and protocol upgrade. Could someone explain how to use it ??? I haven't tried it yet.

I cleaned it up.....

You only need to load this upgrade once to flash the remote. It doesn't work like the traditional extenders. Once it's in, it permanent until you unload the flash by press CH- for both the macro speed and the device button macro initialization delay.

After you flash, you use your IR with no other changes.

Does this mean I can delete the upgrade after pressing CH+ and I will still have fast macros?? In other words can I load your IR File and initialize fast macros then restore my original IR file and keep fast macros ?

Yes. Do it for both device upgrades. Then it is done. Then load your file. The macro upgrade doesn't need to be in your setup.

The second TV, CH+ removes the 2 second delay on the device button macros. I've set it to the fastest without breaking the remote code.

Thanks, it works great. One other question, is it possible to use the built in long keypress functionality on keys other than the device keys ??

For macros? I'm not sure we have the technology yet. I don't think it is impossible, but hasn't been looked at. I know the power button macro delay is default.
