IR5.13 & RDFV1.17 Issue for Brand New RS15-2116

Post by tkilm1 »

I am able to upload/download using IR5.13. I am receiving the IR error message list index out of bounds (-1)" [/color]when trying to save in IR513, even though I am using a brand new remote with its original factory settings. In fact, i receive the error when trying to save IR using the RDF file v117. See snapshots below. Is there an issue with the RDF or IR?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you are using the following RDF: RSL1RSL1.

I entered the same info as you provided and had no problems saving.

Paul: I tried it again and made sure I used the RDF: RSL1RSL1 from v1.17 as you suggested. I tried saving it using IR5.13 and received the same error. Did you try the same versions? Any other suggestions other than going back to IR4.02?

Thanks -- Tom

Well since I am the IR developer now...I had no problems...There may be something in the download that is not compatible.

Since it is the generic info in the remote why not try some stuff in IR and then upload to the remote.

Paul: I am able to upload and download successfully. The problem is that I cannot save the file in IR format using IR5.13. What actually causes the "list index out of bounds (-1)" error? Since it is happening with the data from both the brand new remote and from the RDFv1.17, does this provide you some insight as to where the problem may lie?

Thanks -- Toomas

What I'd like you to try is to start a new file in IR. Do File|New|Select and choose the RS15-2116.

Fill in all the info you can in the [General] and then Save the file. Once that works upload that file to the remote.

The erros is indicating that somewhere there is a value that does not match up correctly. But there is no way to tell which one.

I have the same problem. Here are the circumstances:

1. Open an existing file, test.IR, for example.
2. Download from remote.
3. Save to the same file, test.IR (chosen from the common dialog).

Index out of bounds occurs.
Saved file now includes only the Buffer section. Everything else is gone.

If I save to a new file in step 3, I get no error.

I have done the same manuever with two different remotes. In either case I did not have any problems.

Unfortunately unless I can reproduce the error I can't figure out what may be happening.

Perhaps one of you could load your file to the diagnostic area and I'll use.

One thing, why open the file first and then download from remote. Once you have the configuration saved why download from remote. I usually make changes and upload.

It seems to be connected to saving over an exisiting file. I can reproduce this without fail by doing a File, New, making some changes (or none), and then doing a File, Save As..., choosing an existing filename (in order to overwrite something). If I do Save As... and enter a new name, no error occurs. If I open an existing file, make NO changes, and then do a Save As... and pick an exisiting name, no error occurs.

Thank you Paul for fixing the IR save issue and thanks Mark for verifying its existence on your machine.

I can now save my file but it seems to have a restriction of just allowing me to save the file in the "documents and settings" folder and no other folder. If i try saving it in another folder, it still writes it to the "documents and settings" folder and forces the filename to be my username.ir

Do you see the same restriction?

Thanks -- Tom

I haven't come across that behaviour myself and I can't really test it at the moment. If I get a chance later, I'll see if I can reproduce those results.

If you choose Desktop then Windows will save it Documents and Settings by default and this cannot be changed.

I tried all other directories and had no problems.
