"custom remote code not found" error
Hi there,
I downloaded the PVR 3001 rmdu file from the files section and created the 4 slingbox binary files using the different chipsets.
i have then entered the setup on slingplayer, after placing them in the sbav folder and when i enter custom code C2020 (the number i used) and press the power button - i get the error 'Custom remote code not found. Please try a different code'
any help would be appreciated!

Are the files called C2020_PL.bin, C2020_RV.bin, etc?
When you edited the file in RM, did you have Cable mode selected and was the setup code 2020?
When you enter the C2020 code, is it accepted? If you get a message, what is it?
Do you have a link for the RM file in question?

OK, there is a bit of a back story here, and no doubt Rob will correct any inaccuracies in the story
We struggled for months with the 'Dreambox' protocol trying to get it to work with the Slingbox, but in the end Rob had to build them manually and often the resulting BIN files became too big for the Slingbox, which has a limited storage capacity. And that is the first reason for you getting the error, as we found that if the BIN file is too large then that will give that error (The second occasion we have seen this error is trying to build BIN files for very old boxes that use the JU chip).
Now, recently the team on the JP1 forum did a lot of work on the protocol, now renamed XMP, and produced some new protocol files including one for XMP(Slingbox) which are small enough to fit in the box.
I normally build Custom Remotes for people by loading their device onto my Harmony Remote and use it to 'mimic' the original remote. Unfortunately, the MultiChoice PVR-3001 is not in the Logitech dataabase. I was offered the following:
MultiChoice HD PVR
MultiChoice SD PVR
Nova PVR 3001
Panasat PVR 3001
So I have tried the first one and uploaded the files to https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=8358
Give it a try and if it fails we can work our way down the list

Mackouli, your post about the Nova 3001 got moved to the protocol upgrade area, as we're having a great deal of trouble with it.

Right now things are not looking too bright. I'm thinking right now that your best hope of getting this up and running, is if the PVR accepts a different signal.

Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Well, while you're (as always) valiantly working like mad to solve this - there was also this suggestion from Alan right at the start of that other thread -vickyg2003 wrote:I'm thinking right now that your best hope of getting this up and running, is if the PVR accepts a different signal.
I think it's a site where the user can try to use the Slingbox itself to "learn" the remote - but I can't login to look as I don't have a Slingbox or an account.
Giving that a go might help Mackouli in the meantime if he is in a hurry
I don't think Mackouli has let us know whether he tried that yet... ?alanrichey wrote:I tried to learn the codes for this device but it comes up with an unknown protocol. Sorry.
You might want to check out http://betaremotes.slingbox.com/

And unfortunately the other options all return an unknown protocol. We are working on the Nova 3001 in another thread, and I assume they are all the same.
So at this stage I cannot produce a Custom remote. Sorry.
Have you tried http://betaremotes.slingbox.com/ ?

I am very appreciative of all the effort by all the expert within the forum that have been working on a solution for a bin file for Nova pvr 3001. The box I am attempting to control is for the Greek pay-tv operator NOVA in front of the box the label is Nova pvr 3001 , underneath the box its labeled Panasat pvr 3001 if that helps. I have also tried http://betaremotes.slingbox.com/ with no success
