Need Enter Key for a Sony MHC-GX20

Post by 120240VAC60HZ »

I got a Sony MHC-GX20 with no remote and I got most of the codes from the other upgrades however I cannot get the enter key to work from any of the other upgrades and I really need that key
(To set the Tuner Memory and clock)
It's not a Home Theater in a Box system it is a Mini System (CD/Tuner/Cassette/Game) with a remote
Thanks

Two comments:

(1) It's really helpful when you use the "mandatory" Code Search template, as it forces you to provide a lot of info that you may not (and in this case have not) provide(d) on your own, including some follow-up questions regarding partially-working setup codes;
(2) Have you looked at the Sony Code Search sticky post, that links to a monster site of Sony codes?

That latter site shows the following codes for a CD/Cassette type of device:

I have tried several upgrades and I posted a link above to the one I was able to get most functions working.

I am pretty sure the Sony remote model is RM-SR200

I also do not know when it was made but it is not available in stores anymore if I had to guess I would say 2004/2005

Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

This link shows that Enter could be 26.57 OBC 12, 89, or 124. Probably should try 12 and 89.

Congratulations!
It looks like that the sheet that 3fg pointed you to, offered up a lot of possibilities for RECORD as well. I hope you get find all your functionality. Make sure to post your final working upgrade, so that the next person won't have so much trouble.

I will try to post the final working upgrade but it will take me awhile (I have to read up more on the Sony Protocols) As it seems my device uses a Sony combo protocol (Not sure of which combo though)
I used the Radio Shack remote to program my Logitech Harmony 670 as the Logitech software did not have all of the functions so I guess I will do the reverse again use the Logitech remote and the learning function on the RS remote and then I will try to make a working upgrade for my device and then I will post it to the file section
Here is an Image of the Sony Protocol page from Keymap Master I would use Remote Master but I Can't get it to work
I also still need to get a couple of functions working on my remotes so the final upgrade will probably take me awhile but I promise I will post it

Image

Thanks again!

Here's how I would do it using KM. I'll assume that that you have some devices like 12, 16, and 17, which have no subdevice, and device 26 with subdevice 57.

So in KM, we would select Sony 12/15/20 Combo protocol, because the devices with no subdevice will use Sony12/15, but 26.57 needs Sony20.

The oddity about entering data into Sony 12/15/20 Combo is that the subdevice(s) are entered on the Setup sheet, and the device is entered on the Functions sheet. So you'll need to enter 57 into Sony20 subdev1 on the Setup sheet.

It will warn you to switch to OBC entry mode on the Functions sheet, so make sure you click on OBC in cell A1. Then enter the OBC (not a EFC value) into column B. For everything except 26.57, enter the device number into column C.

For a 26.57 button, e.g. Enter, put the OBC (012 for Enter) in column B, as before, but put 1 26 in column C. 1 denotes the subdev1 entry from the Setup sheet. There should be a space between the 1 and the 26. This is explained on the Protocol Help sheet.

Make sure you copy the protocol upgrade as well as the upgrade into IR.

OK I got the working upgrade but I can't find the OBC for the key called "Play Mode" I tried all of the ones listed for repeat/Mode and none of them worked
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Unfortunately my bookshelf unit uses a different remote than yours,

My button is labled [play mode/tuning mode] and is that sony 26.57 40 command. I'm not sure what it actually does, since I've never pressed it.

Yeah I tried OBC 040 and it does work for FM/Mode (Stereo Mono) and the CD to repeat all or 1
I am still looking for the Play mode button as all of the ones relating to play mode do not do anything with my unit
I guess I will leave that function out of my upgrade but I will still publish it to the file section
Thanks for all of the help everyone gave me
