Why do you need to add a Dreambox upgrade to a Dreambox remote?
What code?B16mcc wrote:I've tried the code I used for my V4 remote...

Ok, I'll try and explain.
I have my Sony TV on 0062. TV button on the remote.
I have my first Dreambox on 0031. Dream button on the remote.
I then added a device upgrade to add the AUX mode to the remote.
I setup AUX mode on 0032 to control my second Dreambox.
I added a macro Shift & Dream, to put the remote into AUX mode.
So, this allows me to control my TV and 2 seperate Dreamboxes from the one remote.
I now have the new V5 Dream remote, and the device upgrade I used on the V4 to add the AUX mode, doesn't work.
This is the code I used that game me AUX as well as TV and Dream.
Cheers
MCC.

More info
Thanks for the reply. Here's a little more info.
As you mention, the remote only has 2 slots for devices. My V4 remote only showed the TV and Dream devices until I applied the device upgrade. It now shows the 3 devices.
So, in that respect the V5 remote is no different at the moment. I have read on the Dream forum that the remote has 4 layers and they detail how to make the STB respond to any or each of the layers. My question remains how to add the extra layer to the remote.
From DM8000 VIP forum.

the new remote control have four own layers!
You can configure the new RC via "/proc/stb/ir/rc/mask1".
The old RC is configured via "/proc/stb/ir/rc/mask0"
The codes in the mask1 are shifted 8 bits left... (*256).
Default is 0xf00... this enables all 4 layers of the new RC.
Only Layer1 is 0x100... Layer2 ist 0x200, Layer3 is 0x400, Layer4 ist 0x800.
So you must do a "echo 0" > /proc/stb/ir/rc/mask1 to disable all layers of the new rc.
The STB seems like it can be set to respond to different IR codes. The remote can be set to generate these different IR codes by choosing which setup code is placed into a device slot. You still have only 2 device slots. I recall one of the dreambox remotes had 0031,0032,0033,0034 as possible device setup codes.
I also noticed the RDF is not quite complete as the DevCodeOffset entry in the RDF is not correct. I will look into fixing this over the next week.

Updated ?
hi again, I notice the RDF I got for the DM8000 remote is now showing an update of 24th April 2009. Is this the update you said you'd look at ?

Is a third slot possible?
Hi!
Does anybody know, if it is possible to control a third device (e.g. an audio amplifier) with the Dreambox v5 remote control (maybe by pressing Shift-TV). My DM 8000 Remote control (URC-39940) only shows one Dream-Device and one TV-Device. There is no AUX device available, as it was in Dreambox v3.
Does anybody yet know, how to create an AUX device on th Dreambox v5 remote control?

You can control a 3rd device but you'll have to use the Device Multiplexor protocol to re-use one of the existing device setup slots.
B16mcc seemed to think his device upgrade created an extra device slot. The older Dreambox remotes had an extra device slot even though there were only 2 physical device buttons. He just added an upgrade that controlled his second dreambox and then added that device setup code to the third device slot.
The Dreambox V5 only has 2 device slots. Thus, to use more than 2 device setup codes, you'll have to swap out one setup code for another. This is what the Device Multiplexor does.
I found my old post on this here.
