Can I reuse my old JP1 cable for new RS remotes?

Post by tkur »

Been away for awhile. Can I use the cable I had for my 15-1994 for a new Radio Shack 15-2116?

Thanks

Yes, it should work. However, if you built the cable based on old instructions, it may have included 10K resistors and a "normal" diode. The new instructions recommend 1K resistors and a Schottky type diode. These changes are really only for improved voltage compatibility and your old cable may work just fine.

The new design is to make the cable more compatible with laptops, if your cable works with your 15-1994, it'll probably work with your 15-2116
