Comparison to 8910...

Hello everyone, does anyone know if the One For All URC 9960 Kameleon has similar features to my 8910? And if its possible to download codes to it for the C-1024 Bose IR/RF converter?

Also anyone with good or bad reviews of the 9960 please let me know.

Not familiar with 9960, but I think it has no hard buttons so you have to watch the screen.

I bet that 10820N will be the recomended one. And Vicky wrote an extender for it. I think it has 10 devices, so what you got in the 8910 should play nicely.

Both the 8910 and the 9960 are modem upgradable
Both the 8910 and the 9960 are EEPROM remotes.
Both the 8910 and the 9960 are backlit.


The Kameleon takes some getting used to. I personally like hard button remotes, I have one "kameleon hybrid" that I was going to write an extender for, but my dislike for the smooth screen remotes was so great that I never bothered to explore it.

There is a marketplace ad currently talking about some 8811's on EBAY this remote is backlit, and compatible with the EEPROM cable NO MODEM though.

The mx remotes? MX-900 my brother has one and likes it but im hearing support is not easy to get. I havent searched on here yet but wondering what might be required to program it?

Only a JP1 cable from about 5-6 yrs ago.

the 8910, 8810 and 9960 all use the same cable.

The newer remotes have more memory but require a more expensive cable and very few have backlighting.

Howver since you are considering a mx900 (aren't those still north of $200?) perhaps a new cable $$ is not a drawback for you.

I think there are a few threads here talking about harmonys and prontos that you might find informative, but for the most part were all pretty much JP1ers.

Ok its been awhile since i surfed the site so Im not as familiar as to whats JP1x and what isnt. I think i can get the MX900 used for alot less on ebay. But i dont want to if I'm going to have trouble finding info for it. I read somewhere that you need a passwd to access their downloadable files. Not sure how hard that is to come by.

MX900 is NOT manufactured by UEIC, is NOT a JP1 (nor JP1.2, 1.2, nor 1.3) remote, and is NOT supported by any discussion threads in these fora, so you're asking in the wrong place about support for the MX series.
