URC-10820 not compatible with Emerson (1-device) protocol?

Post by jrh995 »

Hi All,
I have downloaded this file Magnavox TB100MW9
from the file section. When it is loaded into Remote Master v1.95 it loads as a URC-8910(New) file with
a protocol of "Emerson (1-device)" "Protocol ID: 00 65.
If I try to change the remote to one of mine:

Atlas OCAP PVR 3033 JP1.3 (Black)/ Atlas OCAP (Silver)
or
URC-6820/8820/10820

an Error Box comes up saying:

The selected protocol "Emerson (1-device)"(00 65)
is not compatible with the selected remote.
This upgrade will NOT function correctly.
Please choose a different protocol.

I can change it to other remotes such as URC-9800 & URC-881x with no problem.
I am using "RDFs for IR and RM Version 1.28"

Looking at the Protocol section of the RDFs for my remotes show that ID: 00 65 is missing. There is 0061, 0065:2, 0067.
Can I just add 00 65 to that sequence or is it more involved than that? Are my remotes incapable of
using the "Emerson (1-device)"(00 65) protocol or is it just an error?

Thanks for your help.

Hi John.

The 10820 has the Emerson(3 device) built in PID 00 65.

I thing there is something wrong with this file though. The OBC's don't seem to make any sense, but I don't have the TV, maybe they do make sense.

If you open this upgrade and then change to Emerson(3 device) and then restore the device to 42, you should be good to go, BUT the OBC's just seem odd 3=4,5=6,7=8,9=0,up=down

Good luck

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Hi Vicky,
Yes I see what you mean about duplicates in the OBC.
I'll give the upgrade a try tomorrow but I doubt it will work correctly.

I did a learn from the OEM remote so I should be able to do an upgrade
from that. I had a few bad learns I have to do over.
Does this look more normal even though there are three HEX and EFC codes?
I had a similar decode on a Sceptre TV using a Sony12 protocol and I had no problem.

Magnavox TB100MW9 D/A STB Learns:
  • # Button Key Protocol Device SubD OBC Hex Cmd EFC
    14 TV 2 Emerson 42 33 78 or 79 or 7A 209 or 201 or 225
    15 TV 3 Emerson 42 34 B8 or B9 or BA 207 or 199 or 223
    16 TV 4 Emerson 42 35 38 or 39 or 3A 211 or 203 or 227
    17 TV 5 Emerson 42 36 D8 or D9 or DA 204 or 196 or 220
    18 TV 6 Emerson 42 37 58 or 59 or 5A 208 or 200 or 224
    19 TV 7 Emerson 42 38 98 or 99 or 9A 206 or 198 or 222
Don't know how to format a table list here. :?

Thanks,
John

I got this upgrade to work only partially. Some of the keys worked but they were not what they were labeled. Odd as you said.
Ended up using my learned OEM remote keys to make a correctly functioning upgrade.
I had to use the Emerson Combo (4-Device) protocol however.
(1-Device) protocol did not work at all. I had this available for protocol on the Comcast remotes from ebay I just bought.
(3-Device) protocol worked for some keys but not correct function. One key got me into a service menu screen.
I'll upload the upgrade when I get everything set.

BTW, I think I'm going to buy the IR-Widget when I get back from vacation in a couple of weeks.
It is really becoming a hassle to use the learning remote to get captures into the computer. :)

Thanks,
John

I love my IR-Widget. I almost forgot how much I disliked the doing the remote-to-remote learns, until Rob asked me to capture some learns into an IR file the other day. Have a great vacation.
