This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

8810 and sony code 1758

Post by jbollt »

My friend bought an 8810W at Walmart (green backlighting, btw) based on info I mentioned to him from this forum. His SONY Home theater receiver STR K750P uses OFA setup code 1758, per OFA, but isn't in his remote. They said..send it in. Well...that's where JP1 comes in. :-)

I have a freshman understanding of JP1. I have cable and have had success setting my equipment up and am still learning. Can we use JP1 to enter this setup code, or do we need to create a new device upgrade. If so, Alternately, we can probably learn the required functions, but a setup code or pre made upgrade would be preferable...we tried the several Sony upgrades available in the Yahoo files area, with no success.

Funny thing, when we learn the Power function from his K750P, it works, and also powers on his OLD Sony receiver, but the setup code that operates his old Sony does not work the new one!

thanks for any advice...

Creating upgrades is really what JP1 is all about. If the setup code he needed was in the remote, then you wouldn't be asking this question, would you?

If none of the exisiting Sony files work, then your only option is learning the signals, and letting IR decode them so you can build the upgrade.

You tried the Sony_STR-K750P_HT-DDW750.txt upgrade? I would think it would work.

If it didn't you can create your own. You've already started by learning some functions. Now use IR's learning tab to figure out what you need to build an upgrade.
