IR Hex code to MX-500 (JP1)

I just got an MX-500 remote and have the Panny 42pa20u plasma.
I found the IR hex codes for switching inputs but do not know the
method for getting them into the MX-500. I have a 8811 remote
with the JP1 cable connection to my computer. How do I put
the HEX codes into the KM spreadsheet and then into the IR.exe?

In the KM I see where to input the EFC on the Functions tab but it only
accepts 2 digit hex code like 43 43 56 etc. The IR hex code
I have for the plasma are 4 digits 0010 0020 etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

You have "Pronto Hex". If you want to use that, get the JP1 version of the IrTool program and get DecodeIR.dll. Together those can translate Pronto hex into Protocol name, device number, subdevice number and OBC number. Those you can use in KM or RM to create an upgrade.

But all the Panny plasma devices use standard Panny signals that you can find in upgrades already in the TV folder (in the Yahoo JP1 devices file area). So you can skip the Pronto Hex and IrTool and most of the work.

My guess is that you have Pronto hex for those input commands. If it is from the Remote Central|Pronto|discrete section then save yourself a lot of trouble by using the Advanced Codes=EFC's here (unless it is for the Component or DVI input):

You can try these by using key moves and learn to your MX if they work.

If the codes came from somewhere else, post the link or post the hex and one of us will translate them for you.

Here are some basics:

There are three things we talk about here to define a command in the JP1 world;

Setup Code=TV_250 (in this case) plus (in most cases) any one of the terms below:

1. EFC aka Advanced Codes an encryption of HEX
2. OBC the real function code
3. HEX the actual command to the OFA remote. JP1 HEX commands have nothing to do with Pronto hex commands
HEX

If it is for component or DVD input it will take a device upgrade.

I need help to get past the last(?) step. I have the Decode_IR.dll
in the same directory as IR.exe. I used KM to get the device
and protocol of another Panasonic Plasma (TH-42PWD5, I have
the TH-42PA20U/P) into the IT.exe. I also have the Pronto code
for switching directly to the component input. What do I do
with the code. I see on the Learned Signal tab of IR.exe it
has the DecodeIR Version 2.11 listed but I don't understand
how to add anything to this screen or what to do from here with
the Pronto code. Any help would be appreciated. The Pronto
codes are on the reply above.

OK I used paste and put the hex codes in IRTool and pressed decode. Where do you get the information you have listed? I get kenwood/yamaha something something?

Either you are using an old IrTool (from RemoteCentral) rather than the new IrTool from the Yahoo JP1 group, or the IrTool program can't find DecodeIR.dll (you should download that as well and put it in either the same directory with IrTool, or in a directory with system wide dll's).
