trouble with Universal Electronics Atlas 1056

Post by dabigchina »

I have an Atlas 1056 which has a strange problem. I have been able to program everything successfully. However, for some reason the OK/select button on the remote seems to be bound to the cable box. Therefore, whenever I press the select/ok button, it will automatically send the signal to the cable box, regardless of what mode it is in. I have tried to wipe the remote settings but the problem persists. What am I doing wrong? Does this have something to do with the fact that I got the remote from Time Warner Cable?

There are numerous settings in the remote that could do this:

1: a macro on the OK button, which then changes the definition
2: a keymove on the TV/OK button which then changes the definition
3: a learn on the TV/OK button

All of these have been seen in the Atlas configurations. If you post your IR file in the diagnostic section (with a pointer here) I'd be more than happy to look at it for you and give you a hint as to what is going on.

I used the stickied MFR reset code and while I managed to wipe all my device programming away the enter key issue is still present and curiously the channel keys are still bound to the cable box. Is there a complete reset code i could use to wipe all settings and macros without buying or making a JP1 cable?

Please post your IR file. It sounds like you have channel lock set.

She doesn't have a cable, vicky.

To clear the channel (number) lock, you should follow the procedure on page 17-18 of the manual.

Briefly:
Select CBL Device mode.
Press and Hold in the SETUP key until the CBL button red light flashes twice and then release the SETUP key.
Enter in 9-7-3 (Red light will blink twice after the 3).
Press and release the Channel Down key
CBL will blink 4 times to show you have CLEARED CBL channel lock.
Don't know about the OK/Select button. That's not part of the Channel select group.

To enable the channel lock you use CH UP, to disable the ch lock you use CH DOWN.

a fix that worked for me

Post by bravebaker »

I found this thread through Google.

I was able to fix this problem by replacing the batteries in my remote. I put the old batteries back and the problem returned so I'm pretty sure that low voltage was causing the remote to malfunction in this specific way.

It would also do the same thing on other buttons intermittently, but always on the OK button in DVD mode.

Some additional info for Google to scrape:
My remote has 1056B01-L on the back. The cable guy brought it for use with my SA HD8300C DVR/STB.

You will be pleased to know that you have the learning version of the remote!
Not a lot of those available...
