Need Code: V Digi - Model=VD-i

Post by micstar »

Hi All,

Am wondering if anyone has or can generate the IR code for V Digi (Model VD-i) STB.

Have tried asking the vendor for details but all I can get from them is

" Our remote standard is NEC 6222 and the user code is 00FF".

Anyone has idea on this?

Here's the vendor's site. http://www.vdigi.com.hk/product/VD-i.htm

Very appeciate your time.

Thanks,

Michael

That sounds like it uses NEC1 with a device code of zero. Could you ask them if they'd be willing to give you the hex codes for the buttons too? If they won't give you the button codes, your next move would be to create some dummy upgrades that you can use to determine the button codes.

To do this, you would create an upgrade using the NEC1 protocol with a device code of 0. You would then enter as many OBCs, starting with 0, as you can fit into a single upgrade, then load the upgrade into your Slingbox and test it. You'll need a note pad so you can write down what each Sling button really does (if anything). For example, the "1" button might really be POWER and the "2" button might really be CH+, etc. It might take several dummy upgrades for you to find all the buttons.

Then when you're done, come back to your upgrade file and see which OBCs you used for the "1" and "2" buttons, etc. If you used OBC 1 for the "1" button and OBC 2 for the "2" button, that would mean that the OBC for POWER is 1 and the OBC for CH+ is 2. You get the idea?

Just to confirm,

1. Device Code = 0, you meant in the Protocol Parameters section to put down Device Number:0? How about other? does it matter?

2. How about Setup code?

Am asking the maker of this box to see if they can provide further info.

Thanks,
Michael

Got a reply from vendor... pending for more info

Post by micstar »

Hi All,

Have got a reply from the vendor with some mapping info (not complete info yet).

It's a picture rather than a set of codes. but some info is of below.

Power: 9C
Button 1: 92
Button 2: 93
Button 3: CC
Button 4: BE
Button 5: BF
Button 6: C8
Button 7: 8A
Button 8: 8B
Button 9: C4
HDTV: 82
Button 0: 87
Last: 88
Channel Up: 85
Channel Down: 86
OK: CE
Volume Up: 80
Volume Down: 81

etc....

RobMan, do you have a better clue now what protocol should use given the above info? I was thinking to purchase the components and build a IR Receiver myself and then work on WinLIRC. Hopefully I don't have to go through this Hard way...

Thanks a million.

Regards,
Michael

Wow... that works..

Wow...that works.
What's the formula to convert the code?

Am looking at your mapping
Yours: CH+ = 5E
Mine: CH+ = 85

I can do the conversion if you don't mind teaching me how.
I feel like on the heaven now...

Did try to go out to the store to find components for building the IR receiver but guess it's no need now (which I still can't find a Transistor ye  )

Thanks alot for your help Robman.

That image doesn't list the actual button names, so you'll need to provide those.

Hi Robman,

Am here to say THANK YOU for your help and proud to tlell everyone that I got all keys working now.

Am under the work to actually make a skin for the remote (which looks exactly like the original remote) and will share together with the BIN file once completed.

Thanks again,

Finally Working...still have room to improve

Post by micstar »

Hi All,

Am glad to say that at least I can fully control the STB via my Slingbox now.

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5720

Appreciate Robman's help on giving me hints on the key mappings.

One things though, I downloaded the JP1 Skin (with JP1 Remote Support) and tried to match up with the buttons.

Somehow I still can't get the RED / GREEN / YELLOW / BLUE buttons to appear correctly on Sling (they appeared as black) and can't click on them.

Anyway, I worked around it by modify the Skin.xml and used the custom keys at the bottom with text labels and it works just fine too.

Here's the updated skin file so if any expert can help point out to me how to fix the problem will be perfect.

Thanks again. Am about to tell Vdigi that we've made it work and hopefully they will like our work too.

Cheers,
Michael

IR codes for V Digi VD-i

Post by CS Chan »

Dear Micstar, congratulation for your good works! I am also a V Digi user and looking for the IR cods for my Slingbox Solo. My TV box is V Digi model VD-606. I think its remote control is the same as yours. I am not a technical man, I have down loaded your files but found that they are not bin files, I do not know how to compile the bin files with your files. May I share your bin files to config my Slingbox Solo? Thanks.

I think if you look into the JP1 Software section, you can find the Remote Master to convert the mappings/code into BIN file.
http://controlremote.sourceforge.net/Readme.html#start

Then you can configure Slingbox with the BIN and skin previous provided here.

IR codes for V Digi VD-i

Post by CS Chan »

Dear Micstar, Thank you very much for your advice, I can use my remote control for most function now except the skin. Would you please describe in more details how to compile a .sps file with your skin files. I appreciate very much for your kind guidance. Thanks.
