Working USB To Serial Adaptor and PCI Cards?

Post by IBNobody »

I just found out that my IOGear USB serial port does not function with my JP1.X interface.

Model: GUC232A

It will pass a direct 2-3 loopback, but a JP1.X 1-3/4-6 loopback garbles the signal. (My JP1.X works fine on normal serial ports.)

Soooo.....

Can someone recommend:
A USB-Serial Adaptor
A Serial PCI or PCIe card?

I'd prefer recommendations that have been tested to work.

I managed to swap my GUC232A with a colleague's, and his worked fine.

His seemed to have a different PWA and label layout. My GUC232A had a large crystal on the topside, but his doesn't.

Odd...

I also got one of those HL USB-RS232 cables.

Mine has HL-340 imprinted on the serial port connector. It works fine in Windows, but there's no Linux driver for it. I don't have a Mac to try it.
