I prefer not to reset the remote as it took me along time to get everything setup. Is there anything else I can do to get the mute working under the volume lock mode. I would like to just restore that function without reseting the remote.

Try the following on the mute button:

1. aud device key
2. press and set for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. press the MUTE key
5. press the MUTE key again

If you have assigned an EFC (Advanced Code) to your AUD Mute function (as you state) you have presumably done this via the Keymover (994) function. You cannot use VPT to access a Keymoved (or Advance Code) function. Your easiest workaround is to assign the AUX device's Mute EFC via the Keymover (994) function to every mode (TV, DVD, VCR, whatever) where you want VPT.

VPT does not work on keymoves. We know that. Without a cable, its kind of hard to visualize what you did to make it work, and what you did to kill it.

What kind of change were you making to cause it to stop working? Are you absolutely sure it was working?

Are you sure you didn't previouslu have a keymove from the Aud device to the Cbl device.

When using the cable mode I never had to press the aud button before I hit mute, it worked under the volume lock, both mute and volume. Now I have to hit the aud or aux button before i got to mute in order for it to work.

Correct me if I am wrong, the voulme lock feature is suppose to work with both vol and mute correct? I don't know what happened. I don't know what changed.

Correct.

I also don't know what changed.

Do you understand the significance of a key being defined by the setup code vs. defined by a keymove?

Subject to lots of other conditions, VPT causes each of those keys in other modes to be the setup-code definition of that key in the mode used for VPT.

A keymove for mute in the mode used for VPT would override the mute key for that mode, but not for the other modes that get the key through VPT. Statement earlier in this thread seem to indicate you needed a keymove to make mute work, so that it shouldn't have worked through VPT. Yet you say it previously worked through VPT. If all that were true then you must previously have been using a different setup code.

If mute in other modes hadn't previously worked through VPT, but did previously work, that would imply you previously had a keymove or learned signal in each of those modes making it work. In any case now you could make it work with such keymoves.

So what can I do in this case? What does VPT stand for by the way. I think I tried the 994 code the other day and it didn't work. I will try again

You want the cable device to have the mute command from the AUX/AUD device?

Yes, the vol works for the aud in cable command.

You might have tried it, but try it again:

1. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
2. enter 9 9 4
3. press AUD/AUX device key
4. press MUTE
5. press CAB device key
6. press MUTE
