9910 and USB cable trouble

Post by jcorey »

So, I went to monkey with my settings on my 9910 this evening, only to be stopped by the dreaded ""SDA is being held low" error. I've been trying various things, fresh/not-so-fresh batteries, etc. I wasn't sure exactly which way the cable went on the JP1 connector, so I tried it either way. But, oddly, when I put the cable pointing down the bottom of the remote, the display hangs like a fresh power-on with all LCD figures on forever. I press Power to see if it'll jump-start the extender, but it does nothing.

I had used this computer once before (it's new), and had the USB driver loaded. I remembered back then that it would only work in one particular USB port on the motherboard. I tried it, and then each of the others with no luck.

Anyway, the LCD shouldn't be hanging like this, right?

I was getting the SDA Held low message, and found that it would not clear, my PC had to be rebooted each time I encountered that error. Of course mine was caused by an out of date DLL. I don't know WHERE I picked that one up (I'm navigationally challenged). If there is a bad file out there anywhere I'll end up with it.

Yup, I went through and deleted the old remnants of the driver, reinstalled, rebooted, and nothing has gotten any better yet.
