URC-8910 B02 won't use code I made for JVC MX-GB5 Stereo

Post by exclavieor »

Yes, I have read the FAQ's and the getting started stuff. Using the information found here, I made an upgrade file for my CyberHome CH-DVD 500 from scratch which works just fine. I also located upgrade files for the RCA VH915 video selector, Hauppauge 45-button remote and AOC A17UX231 LCD tv. I applied these just fine. The tools I am using are IR 6.20 and KM 9.06.

My problem is when I make an upgrade for my JVC MX-GB5 Bookshelf Stereo system, the 8910 keeps saying the number is not found when I try to use it. Here is a link to the KM upgrade file I made: JVC MX-GB5 Bookshelf System
I copy the upgrade code KM gives me and paste it as a new device in IR and then upload it to the remote. This part works just fine. I have even restarted IR and downloaded from the remote just to make sure the code is in the remote and the upgrade is in the remote. Whenever I try use the new code, the 8910 keeps saying "NOT FOUND". Any ideas?

Without your IR file, it's hard to diagnose, but I suspect you have not copied and pasted the Protocol upgrade into IR. The Device upgrade is a separate thing, and in some cases, you must also add a protocol upgrade, which in this case, KM calls for.

 Gee... Do I feel dumb. I didn't scroll down far enough to see the protocol code box. I did enter the OEM numbers it gave me up above though... :D
Once I did the protocol upgrade, the 8910 accepts the new code. THANKS!!
