URC-8810 NOT LEARNING KEYS FROM ANY OTHER REMOTE

Post by jorge garcia »

Hi, i have the URC-8810 i bought it a couple of years ago, it works great, and does connect to the parallel interface.

Ive done an upgrade for a coolsat 5000, which worked fine also.
But when i tried to LEARN KEYS from a Sony RDR-GX330 remote i noticed that it did not learn them.

i tried learning kesy from other 2 remotes ( tv and dvd), with no luck.

i also tried the MFR RESET , (setup, 2 flashes then 980, and setup 2 flashes and 981).

Any comments on what can be wrong?
i also read the sticky about the correct way to learn keys.

Help me out here!!

Your not reseting correctly. This is from the remote reset sticky in general section.

3) For the current LCD remotes (eg, URC-8910, etc):

- Press and hold SETUP until screen reads "CODE SET"
- Press RECORD
- Follow the prompts

THanks whompus,

the thing is im not using an LCD remote, the URC-8810 is a non LCD remote.
i did read that sticky from the beginning, but i used this one instead:

1) For most non-LCD remotes:

- Press and hold SETUP (might be labelled SET, MAGIC or P), 2 flashes
- Type 981, 4 flashes

I also did the

- Press and hold SETUP (might be labelled SET, MAGIC or P), 2 flashes
- Type 980, 4 flashes

Doing this, it erases all my upgrades, and protocols, key moves, etc. but still no luck on LEARNING keys.

Any ideas?

My bad.. I misread as being an 8910.

It may be internally. If so I am not sure what if anything can be replaced to help.
