If you are a non-JP1 user and have a LiteOn 5115 DVD player, you can control it using the DVD/0558 setup code. However, most of the buttons will do the wrong thing, but you can re-program them using the advanced codes listed below:

What are you trying to determine?

What is the device (DVD player? Receiver?)

Are these EFC (Advanced Codes) or OBCs, or what?

Why only certain numbers?

Why not all of them?

You will almost certainly get more help if you make it easier for a reader to figure out what you are seeking, and what you are talking about.

I almost missed the entire point by dismissing the most likely meaning of that as too improbable, leaving no meaning.

But after looking up the LiteOn LVW-5045 at RemoteCentral, I think you mean that these LiteOn devices use the same protocol and device number as typical JVC DVD's but significantly different EFC numbers.

Sorting that data from the 5045 by EFC has quite a lot of overlap with your list. The first few EFCs are:

040 = right
060 = 1
069 = 7
070 = up
073 = 0
109 = Enter
111 = Stop

I think you need to fill in a few blanks first.

Or get that 5045 file from lite-dvdr-lvw5045.zip and use DecodeCCF to grab that data (which might match what you want).

You seem to be asking "What functions are executed by these EFCs?" Why are you only interested in what those particular EFCs do? (I suppose you could just test them, couldn't you? - i.e. Press the Magic (or shift, or setup) button, followed by the three-digit EFC).

And why only THOSE few EFCs? Why are you not interested in any others?

The normal type of questions would be "What EFC's execute these functions?" - and then the questioner provides a list of functions.

What are you trying to accomplish? What remote are you using?

Real sentences with complete phrases and understandable thoughts would be appreciated.

IF, on the other hand, this is NOT a request for information, but some sort of clever, cutesy way of providing information to the forum in the form of a "game", I fear your cleverness and ingenuity is quite lost on me.

Because those EFCs are the only ones to which the device will respond.

Which is exactly what I have done to "fill in the blanks"; as was the original question. I just didn't want to do it if the work had been done previously. It's a moot point now... I've done the work regardless. I apologize if the original post was vague, but I do not understand how anyone could misinterpret an obvious key table corresponding to a specified device.

Setup code DVD/0558 can be used for the Liteon 5115, but most (maybe all) of the key mappings would be wrong.

Without a JP1 cable, and without a model of remote that accepts .wav files upgrades and without sending an upgradable model in to get the right setup code added, kludging DVD/0558 may be your last remaining option.

We rarely have exact model matches to a request. Someone with an exact model match could easily have answered your question without worrying about all the contextual information you left out.

The experts here usually try to answer such questions even though we have no exact match (the work hadn't already been done). Toward that end it helps to have some clue about the context of the question.

Hopefully by now any other experts reading this thread understand the most important piece of context:

Of course we would never expect a non-jp1'er to use any phrase similar to "same protocol and internal device number" to descripe that. But I think it still could be described (setup code DVD/0558 sort of works, but all the keys are wrong and must be remapped by EFC number).

Nonetheless, the device key on the remote must be set to 0558 for the LiteOn to be controlled. Call it a stretch, but it is factual. Yes, the buttons make no sense, nor do most of them even function, but 0558 contains the advanced codes that I need.

Indeed that is the case. My "kludged" 0558 is now controlling all functions of the player to perfection.

If that is the case, why even list the advanced codes?

The main point of an advanced codes list is for "advanced" functions that aren't mapped to any key by the basic setup code.

Maybe you have an OFA remote without an eject button, or a zoom button or some other important buttons that your DVD player needs. The basics like play and stop may work, but you want the rest. The advanced codes list helps you solve that.

Now that you've done the work, no questions that matter are left.

Some of the questions were answered in the lag between when I posted and when my post showed up (for me at least, that lag is a lot worse today than usual). That includes the big question of where your list of interesting EFC numbers came from. The biggest question left if we were still trying to help you, is which model of OFA remote.
