keymap-master v8.38 available!

Post by Mark Pierson »

The latest version of KM (v8.38) is available.

Changes include:
  • Fixed problem with manual settings protocol selection for M6805 types.
  • Changed 'Denon/Sharp Combo (Official)' $009C protocols to use non-Comp'd commands.
  • Fixed minor bug with 'EFC'/'OBC' setting in saved upgrade file.

"doesn't work" isn't very descriptive. What exactly happens? Are there any error messages? Does Excel-12 have an analysis ToolPak? Did you install it?

Having asked all that, you could always use RM instead of KM.

Your right it isn't very much info. I am @ work so I can't give the specifics now. Next time I'm working on it I will note the errors. I was just posting to see if anyone else has tried it. Sort of like. if you've tried it you'll know, sort of thing.

If that's the Mac version, it doesn't support the same features as Windows, primarily VBA code.

Isn't office 12 still in tech beta?
If you are a tester wouldn't you want to report it to Microsoft. As it may be a bug that needs attention.

If that's the case (likely since there's no mention of Office 12 that I could find at the MS Office site) then I'd need to know more about the specific errors received. Not that any of that info would help me, but you never know... ;)

First let me state that I'm not a big excel user but I have been able to use KM w/ no problem until I upgraded to this office version. Any help would be greatly appr. Thanks--john

On opening I get the:
*** ToolPak ERROR ***
The Microsoft Excel Analysis Toolpak is either
not installed or is not compatible with this
version of keymap-master.
(see the keymap-master-readme file for details)

and in researching I found:

In addition to improving the formula editing UI in Excel 12, the team has spent some time adding to Excel’s function library. Over the years, customers have found new ways to combine and leverage the functions in Excel to build all sorts of things, but there remain many areas where our customers would like to see need new capability. This release, we have targeted three areas in which to improve our function library – the Analysis ToolPak, SQL Server Analysis Services, and the most common requests we hear from customers.

First, we have fully integrated the Analysis ToolPak functions into the Excel function library, making these functions first-class citizens and eliminating issues relating to the fact that they had been delivered as an add-in in the past. Users already find a great deal of value in these functions and, from Excel 12 on, they can rely on them to simply work the way the rest of the Excel function library works. This means users no longer have to run the add-in to use the functions, the functions will show up in Formula Autocomplete (see previous post), the functions will offer the same tooltips as other native Excel functions, etc.

It's about time!

KM REQUIRES the ToolPak since it is very dependent on several TP functions. Let me see if I can come up with a version that works for you. I probably can't get to it tonight, but I'll try.

I took a quick look at KM and think it's a simple fix. Please try out this v8.38 beta1 and let me know if it works. If not, any error detail would be helpful.

So I guess you get what I'm saying then. I guess Km is looking for the add-in toolpak but in version 12 it's not an add-in so it causes the error?

That's my guess. Try the version I just uploaded. All I did was change it so that if the Excel version is 12 or more, it ignores the TP requirement.

I still got the same *** ToolPak ERROR ***
The Microsoft Excel Analysis Toolpak is either
not installed or is not compatible with this
version of keymap-master.
(see the keymap-master-readme file for details)

I wish I could help you more other than getting you the office 12 which I'm happy to (just have to figure out a way to upload it to you) I don't know how else I could help.

I'm a bit pressed for time this evening, but I'll look into it as soon as I can. Since I can't really test the changes I make, it may take a few attempts.
