the diode says 5818 is that the right one?

i didnt buy a kit i just used parts i had around.

i hooked it up wrong several times confused about the jp1 pin arrangemnt could i have killed my jp1?
the remote still seems to work .

Lots of people have hooked it up wrong in various ways without doing any harm.

If it doesn't work, it may still be hooked up wrong.

with batterys below and jp1 above the jp1(1) is bottom left ?

We could help you better if you provided more information.

Based on one of your other posts, I can guess that the remote in question is a urc-7800 that you soldered pins into. If so, we need to wonder about problems from that soldering as well as problem in the cable construction, as well as simply plugging it in backwards.

If it's not a 7800, then your description of positioning the connector relative to the batteries isn't enough to identify which corner is pin 1. We need to know the model of remote.

I don't happen to remember where pin 1 is on various models. But those who do remember will likely need to know which model you're asking about.

yes cinema7, 7800 is the model.

sorry yes i think it was a combination of
bad batterys and poor /shorted soldering.
