I added the 6 pin connector, jumper, and eeprom to a URC 6012, and the soldering looks just fine to me. (I'm an EET major in college)
Yet when I put the batteries in the remote blinked at me, a single long blink, and if I attempt a reset, I get the 2 short 1 long, gah. I've double checked all my soldering, but no go.
Anyone have any helpful suggestions?
Thanks,

PS I also have a 8910 and built a working interface, the 6012 is my old remote, I plan to give it to a friend, and maybe build em an interface. It's a 2k EEPROM.

Are you doing a 980 reset or a 981? The 980 won't work.

Something like this is impossible for us to diagnose from afar. We can't check your soldering, nor can we check that you put the EEPROM in the right way around.
It sounds like you used a valid EEPROM chip, so it should have worked.
I've soldered hundreds of URC-6131 remotes and once in a while I get one that just won't take. Usually if I re-do the soldering it will be OK, but every so often even after I've re-done the soldering it still won't take. At this point I usually discard the remote into my parts box as it's not worth me spending any more time on it. Maybe you were unlucky enough to get one of these "bad" remotes.
Maybe you should send it into OFA for an upgrade! They'll just trash it and send you a replacement, but the replacement will probably have a 1k EEPROM chip installed.

Maybe I'll try a new chip or just send it in. I can guarantee that the soldering is fine and the chip is in place correctly, I think that perhaps the chip is bad, or I fried something. I'd hate to think that I fired something. I do a lot of soldering being an electronics major, so I'd think I would have it down pat after nearly 8 years of working with an iron.
PS, the LCD in my URC-8910 was broke, it got knocked off a rather high spot, anyone happen to know where I can get a replacement? Maybe someone with a busted one with a good screen?
