milennium 4 remote issues

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

I did exactly what you said and the remote responding wiht the 2 blinks confirming everything.. (I even used your key examples)
When I downloaded it I got these errors from IR:

"DevType15 4095 is not currently assigned to a device button. Would you like to assign it now? (If not, the Key Move associated with the "SHIFT-Key127" buttion will be ignored.)
if I click yes I get "A device type of 15 is not defined for the current remote."

the result is posted in the diag area with the name mill4-gfh-keymove.txt
Did I do something wrong?
hopefully that gives you some insight...

on a happier note I got that b01 mil4 working with macros and everything though I couldn't get it to work with this device code either (though I did make 2 upgrades for different devices that worked fine on it)

That message confirms that you are using the wrong RDF.

both the millennium RDFs I have give the same error i'll try the new version of IR/RDFs when I get home and see if that eliminates the error...

Hey Guy,
I went back and converted your file names into links to make it easier for anyone else that wants to help (we do prefer that you always post links to files that you want us to look at).

Anyway, it does appear that you have a version of the Mil4 that we haven't seen before. Your advanced code section starts at $01A (like with the B02 version) but your EEPROM-SIZE fixed data byte is at $019 rather than $017. I don't know what else might be different.

Here's an updated RDF that you can try out: MIL0MIL0 (Millennium 4-unknown).rdf

Could you look around the JP1 hole to see if there are any identifying markings that we can use to identify this remote. See my previous post for examples of what we're looking for.

when I get home i'll check it and see if I can find any of those markings, otherwise i'll
rip it apart and get a bunch of pics of the guts and see if you can tell what it is...
sorry about not linking i'll do that in the future...
i'll also try that RDF when i get home.. thanks again

ok the download of the keymoved one gave no error...
I put my upgrade in and bam it worked, you 0wn rob :)
that probably explains all the trouble I was having with the macros as well

heres what I found:
it's got no heatstamping for the version anywhere on it..
on one side of the battery container itself there is a stick on label that says:
--------------------------
|URC-4MXXXBJ8-XXX |
| J 04 01 02 |
---------------------------

I also checked another one of ny remotes and it has the same sticker and looks to be the exact same one...

the components are not directly visible from the JP1 slot however if I tlit it at a good angle and stuff a flashight into the hole I can make out the cap and the Y1 markings but it's really hard to see

hope that helps you ID it if you wanted to know what remote it was...that RDF worked perfectly I was even able to manually select the device .. If you want pics I can get you pics but i'm not sure how much iding the remote really matters at this point...

btw do you have any urc8910's with the arrow buttons or can you get me one?

again thanks alot for all the help...

just changed my parents remote out for the one I programmed for them and it's got the exact same profile as the other ones I have all 3 of them... so they must all be the same version... aha mystery solved :)
