Need feedback from the "experts", please

Post by gfb107 »

It's been a few days since this thread came up, and I had hoped for some more feedback from the real JP1 experts.

What sort of feedback are you looking for? I don't really see an open question hanging there.

Well, I asked if being able to use ToadTog with Device Combiner was somethiing that RM should be able to handle. KM does, but I think that was just a happy accident for this particular user.

Other than the OP, and me, the only opinion came from Mark Pierson, who voiced his opinion against it. His opinion is certainly appreciated and respected, but I had hoped to hear from some more of the experts, even if only to say "I agree with Mark".

For S3C8 remotes, KM does very little checking since the DC was rewritten by Hal to allow upgrade protocols. In that light, I'd say change RM to allow any PID and remind the user they are responsible for ensuring it's built-in, installed, etc.

What he said..............

I do agree that we need to provide all the flexibility we can as long as it does not hinder the user with too many options.
