Functions aren't available to assign to button in RM

Post by Drosner »

Hi

Newbie question as I am just starting to configure using Remote Master. I setup my OARUSB04G OFA remote using SimpleSet.com. Then I started RM and uploaded the config from the remote and saved the remote image.

I have 3 devices that I setup initially on the remote - TV, Cable, Audio. So I want to now go in and set certain functions from the OEM to certain buttons on the Universal. When I look at the functions list I see lots of the OEM buttons/functions. However, when I go to the buttons or layout tab and want to assign some of those functions they aren't available to be assigned.

Simple example - Mitsubishi Master File Upgrade. Function "format" shows up in the device format tab. But not available to assign a button or layout.

I'm sure i'm missing something easy so sorry for a dumb question...

First, it helps if you post a link to any file you reference. Here I assume that you mean this Mitsubishi TV Master upgrade. I tried installing this upgrade in a OARUSB04G, and Format appeared in the list of available functions on both the Button and Layout tabs.

I recommend saving a RMIR file with the upgrade, uploading it to the Diagnosis Area, and post a link here to the file. Then we'll have a chance to see what is going wrong.

Mathdon's explanation in this thread might be the answer here too https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... highlight=
...When you download from a universal remote, the functions are named after the buttons on the universal remote to which they are assigned. If you create an upgrade with RM/RMIR, then you can name the functions after the buttons on the original remote, or give them any other names of your choice, but those names are stored only in the .rmir file. They are not passed to the remote on an upload.
i.e. on the General page in RMIR, see the 'create missing upgrade' button:
that button is usually greyed out but it becomes available when the relevant device has been selected, and when a configuration has been uploaded from the remote.
