Simple question needs simple answer, sort of.

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

Simple question needs simple answer, sort of.

Post by SeLoH0000 »

I recently bought one of these from a recommendation. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261101529602 Now I am not certain it was a good one. I was hoping you could help me as the seller speak very good English making communication difficult. 1. Is this a jp1 programming cable? 2. If so which color wire goes to which pin on the remote have a Comcast universal remote. Via the internet I have pictures linking it to 'jp1'(it has the six pins in the back under the battery cover). However I am still unclear whether it is a jp1, JP2, etc. I can't manually reprogram the CBL button to change channels on my HTPC(Windows Media Center). I am hoping to do this with a cable. This would make me feel as though I am finally getting one over on Comcast. Would this help me? http://www.txsat.net/JP1_EEPROM.html

1. It is a USB-Serial cable that works with JP1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and JP2

2. https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... 073#p116073

You do NOT need a JP1_EEPROM cable from txsat.

To manually reprogram CBL, first unlock the setup codes:
1) Press CBL
2) Hold Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 982
The remote should blink 4 times. If it blinks twice, do the procedure again.

If you're dumping your cable box, Comcast might want their remote back too.

OK. Connected. All good. Thanks. Two more question though.
1. How do edit(only not greyed out on CBL) TV and AUX?
2. How do I look buttons(ie.. whenever volume is pushed it uses AUX volume or when channel is pushed it uses CBL)?

1. Built in codes can't be edited. Find device upgrades for your TV and stereo in our file section (any similar model usually works, doesn't have to be an exact match), add them on the Devices tab of RMIR (New - Open), then edit as you wish and assign to the TV and AUX buttons when you're done.

2. Vol and Channel lock settings are on the General tab of RMIR on the right. Pick the devices you want for vol and channel lock.

If you haven't read it already, read this:

I have read it. Numerous times actually. But I really don't learn by reading I'm more of a hands-on person. I make mistakes and try to figure out how to fix them or ask. Which reminds me I am trying to program an Xbox One function and the program says invalid setup code. Is there an easy fix?

Post your RMIR file in our Diagnosis area.

I don't get an error with this version of RMIR. Try it.
