Talk:Main Page

I have protected all the pages here, which means that you need to be a registered user in order to edit them. I have also deleted the links to pages that have not been created yet as it's impossible to protect a page that doesn't exist. This is because we were getting inundated with spam.

Thanks Rob - I noticed in the Glossary history that I was editing without being logged in which was surprising.

I did see that there was one IP address (192.88.165.35) making valid edits, but I had to go into the main JP1 database to see that it was you. Hopefully it will force you to log on before letting you edit any existing pages in future, but I don't think I can stop anyone from creating new pages, which means those pages won't be protected. Btw, to sign a post here, all you need to do is add four '~' symbols after it.

Recent Changes - watch for spam

Could I request that anyone coming here to make changes, first click on "Recent Changes" in the left hand column to see if any spammers have been vandalizing the pages. If they have, please block them and delete their changes. Thanks. The Robman 14:44, 5 January 2011 (EST)

Good news, I have figured out how to block un-registered users from doing any editing on the site, so that should be the end of the spam, unless these spam-bots start registering as users. The Robman 22:53, 5 January 2011 (EST)

Link formatting

When you format a non-wiki link, you get a special arrow symbol that indicates that it's an external link. example However, this can make a page hard to read. To suppress this symbol, you can use example2 . The Robman 16:49, 4 April 2011 (EDT)
