|
|
I am working on getting extender to work on my 8810 remote. I have a couple of questions.
1) from the yahoo group i have noticed that there are several different extenders for my remote. They seem to have versions 3.1, 2.4, and 1.2. Is there any difference between these different versions? I have read through the readme files for each and I didnt really notice much different...
2) Im not really clear on what the xs_* commands are for? Can someone help clarify what one could do with those commands
3) Im also not clear on how to setup the remote so that long keypresses have different behaviour than short keypresses or even double keypresses. Can someone give me a hint on how to set this up? is it something to do with the xs_* stuff above?
Thanks in advance,
Garth |

Version 3.1 offers a configurable backlight timer and introduces the x_shift (eXtended Shift) commands. It should be clearly outlined in the readme.
Note that there have been some reports of v3.1 being incompatible with some8810w/8811 remotes. No conclusive fix has been made available yet AFAIK.
They are eXtended Shift commands. Basically, v3.1 of the extender lets you define 2 shift buttons with differing behavior.
3) long keypresses have different behaviour than short keypresses[/quote]
The extender itself doesn't include the LDKP protocol, but is required to enable it. It can be found in the Special Protocols folder. _________________ Mark |

Hi Garth,
zanzibuz wrote: | I am working on getting extender to work on my 8810 remote. I have a couple of questions. | No, you have three questions. A "couple" means two. I can wait. Go look it up. zanzibuz wrote: | 1) from the yahoo group i have noticed that there are several different extenders for my remote. They seem to have versions 3.1, 2.4, and 1.2. Can someone help clarify what one could do with those commands? | For example, if you put the function "fast forward" on "xs-info", you could press shift-shift-info and your device would start to fast forward. Before you ask, the shift key is the same as the "set" key. Having said all that, I personally pretty much have found the "shift keys" and "xs keys" to be most useful as pieces of macros. zanzibuz wrote: | 3) Im also not clear on how to setup the remote so that long keypresses have different behaviour than short keypresses or even double keypresses. For the LDKP protocol you will want to reference this (a link to the file Mark mentioned above).
