A little analysis and help would be much appreciated. Trying to discover EFC's and key functions to work with in KM

Your first learned signal is corrupted and causing IR problems. Open up your .IR file in a text editor like NotePad and change these lines

F000: 03 21 18 00 D3 83 24 25 55 55 45 54 44 44 54 44
F010: 44 45 54 55 55 54 45 41 30 82 30 04 20 18 00 D3

This should allow you to see the rest of the learned signal data.

Wanna trade brains? I don't know how you figured out the corrupted data thing but as soon as I implemented the recommended changes I was able to learn commands at will. I did however have trouble making them work with the 9200 Sat RCVR/PVR. In the learned tab it described the Protocol as Dish Network which did not work, however I found Dish Network Combo Protocol (ID=2) works with the following parameters.

Unit = 3
Device 0 = 0
Device 1 = 1
Device 2 = 16
Device 3 = 0

Thie gave me a Fixed Data of 40 00 80 08 00, which is the same as Setup Code 1946, however I don't believe the Unit and Device configuration correspond with information supplied in the Devices spreadsheet.

Anyway it all seems to work now, I just don't quite know why with the above Device and Unit configuration and I didn't see anything in the Learned signals that would give me any indication as to what the unit number should be, or why the Protocol had to be changed. Any ideas??

There are 5 fixed data bytes. The first is the unit# and then the next 4 are the combo device #'s. The spreadsheet should probably have 5 columns for this VCR/1946 entry: 2 0 1 16 0. Unit2 then corresponds to Fixed Data 40. Each function then chooses between dev0-dev3 as needed.

I am having difficulty with another SAT RCVR. This time it's a FTA that IR does not like. IR has even asked for this to be uploaded for a little analysis, so here it is.

There are Viewsat codes in the File Seciton. I'd recommend setting your Learned section to all FF's and starting clean. Then try learning the Viewsat signal again. Maybe your learning technique is not correct?

I deleted all the signals except for the last one and the learned data had a bunch of zeroes in it. I'm not sure what that indicates though. Try re-learning with the learning section all FF in the .IR file and see what the data shows.

Once in awhile I get a corrupted command and I don't know why. It appears that the protocol all of a sudden changes from NEC1 to some description starting with GAP... , sometimes when learning I have seen it switch to JVC A protocol. I go back in and re-learn the odd protocol command and it seems to automatically clear out the old corrupt command and revert back to NEC1 protocol. If I don't pick up on the corruption when it occurs I start to get weird results on all learned commands after that.
I initialized the remote back to all $FF as suggested and initiated a factory reset on the remote. After that I was able to learn all the commands I wanted from my Viewsat remote with only one command being learned that was corrupted. I relearned that command and all seems to be fine. I guess it is just part of using a URC6690 remote. Thanks for all the assistance.

A "Gap" decode does not usually indicate "corruption", but does indicate that IR cannot decode the signal with the curent decodeir.dll library. More often than not, it indicates a bad learn, and occasionally it indicates a heretofore unseen protocol that an expert must decode by hand and create a protocol (executor) for. It seems that nobody has suggested the possibility of a bad learning technique to you, so I would refer you to this guide.

Hi - I could not find a file on this site for the Bell Expressvu 9200 PVR. I saw mention that it might be the same device as the Dish 622. I could not see a file for Dish 622 either.

Would anyone know if a file exists for either of those devices?

Did you try the Bell ExpressVU PVR in the file section? If not, start there. Often different models share the same codes.

Ok - I had not seen the 'PVR' file section. I tried that Dish 501 RM file - and it does not work with my 9200.

I'd just like to check in case someone has a 9200 RM or KM file before I begin the 'learn remote' sequence.

Why do so many people hesitate to learn and decode? In those elapsed 8 hours, you could have decoded all of the OEM remote's learned signal 50 times already. Confused
