Hi, and happy new year!!
I am trying to set up my VCR (European Thomson VTH805FE) to work with my 8811; searched through the codes (as described in the manual) but nothing fits. As this is the last of my devices to go in, I am now pretty comfortable with building upgrades. Alas, this one uses toggle-bits... All key presses work once, with subsequent presses ignored unless another key is pressed. Tried searching the forums, but recieved a huge amount of irrelevant posts with the words 'toggle' and 'bit' or 'bits' in them.
Is there a way of overcoming this?

thanks

I guess you're talking about learned signals, right? Signals learned from a "toggle" protocol will usually work as you describe because the remote can't determine the toggle. Do the signals decode to something logical that can be used to build an upgrade?

If you build an upgrade then the toggle bit won't be a problem, because the upgrade will toggle correctly.

Only learned signals have the symptom you described. Since you have that symptom, I must assume you're using learned signals.

Decode the learned signals to find out the protocol, device and commands to use in an upgrade, then be sure to delete the learned signals for testing the upgrade.

Thomson devices normally use either Thomson protocol or RECS80 protocol, both of which have toggle bits.

Thanks guys Smile
Yes, I've used the learned commands to check how it works. It never occured to me that it would behave correctly when using the EFC's themselves...
The decodes shows - Protocol: Thomson Device: 0 EFC: xxx OR yyy.
I will promptly make an upgrade out of it and see how it goes ( and report back).

love you!

Yep. As always, you're right. Made an upgrade and it works as it should.

again, thanks a lot.
