I am curious to know what the coil in the URC8910-9910 is. It appears to be hot glued in. They break loose and rattle. I remove them with no trouble. What is the function of the coil?
Thanks |

It is used for phone-based upgrades. You can call in to UEI and hold the remote up to the phone to get upgrades. If you remove the coil, that won't work anymore Of course with JP1 there is little need for the feature.

This is a very common problem with the URC-8910 and URC-9910 remotes.
If you want to fix it, open up the remote and locate the two wires that should be pretuding from the coil, then solder them to the two spots in the middle of the coil on the PCB. Use hot glue to re-attach the coil to the PCB. _________________ Rob
