|
|
I am trying to download from the remote (8910 - URC8910B02) using IR 6.15 (on Linux using Wine). IR works fine and the interface check succeeds.
When I try to download from the remote, the LCD activates and IR says "Did not receive a response (acknowledgement) from the remote after sending device address (ErrNo=8, Param=161)".
I've tried the MFR Reset (Set, Rec, Select, Confirm...) and the remote seems to reset. It would complain about 'MEM FAULT' when IR.exe tried to download from remote earlier, So I reheated the pins of the two 8SOIC chips with a soldering iron and now the MEM FAULT hasn't shown up so far.
Anyone have any clues what's up with my 8910 remote?
If its a bad EEPROM, can someone please tell me what partnumber it should be. The partnumber on the two are A51SC-C246 (at position U2) and A43C0095 or A48C0095 at the other position(U?). I've not been able to find anything remotely similar on Google either.
Help!
Thanks

try new batteries, weak batteries, one reversed battery in the set, etc.
you can search for much discussion on batteries and JP1 interface operation in the forum |

I doubt that you have a bad EEPROM, but the generic part number that you need is 24C16 (where the middle letter is sometimes something different). See this thread for advice on finding EEPROMs. _________________ Rob

I've tried using new batteries, 3 batteries, 2 batteries, one reversed, etc but no luck so far.
I've checked and double checked my 'simple' interface JP1 cable.
It would not work with my T41 Thinkpad's parallel port so I made some changes as described in the Rev5 doc.

After some frustrating time spent debugging the problem I eventually found the 6pin IDC connector to be the culprit. Pin 6 was not making contact within the IDC.
After fixing the cable IR.exe can now download from the remote.
Thanks everyone,
