I have an Emerson TV model number TC4253...I do have the original remote...I do not have the instruction manual
Does anyone know how to reset the remote?
The electric went out and now I have the channel number posted on the screen, plus you cannot use remote to put in some of the channels.
I have reset this accidently in the past but have no idea how to do it. Any help greatly appreciated! |

I had the same problem and found an answer different from the standard answer online (that you must have the original remote). I have a URC-8910B02 One For All. I found online awhile back that using a 0236 tv code for the Emerson and then hitting 'set' then '503' will toggle the chset option. I imagine that this will work with other universals. I was unable to find the other article with this information earlier today in a prolonged search, so I joined to post this. /* For search engines: This will fix the channel number always on problem, the channel display does not turn off problem, the channel on/off display problem. It provides this solution for Emerson televisions and the older emerson tv that has no remote or has lost the remote by giving a universal remote One For All code to deactivate the display. */ Hope this helps. Don't waste your money on an older remote--though they'll try to convince you to get one. If I remember correctly, at the time I even called Emerson and they gave me the line. Try this, it works on my Emerson TC1362 and at least one other model. The original solution was for an equally old emerson model, but I do not remember the model #.
Hope this helps you and anyone else who has this problem.

A: I don't think the lower end remote an Emerson set woud get into a state requiring resetting.
B: unless the remote is powered from the mains, the remote would not get into a wierd state in the case of the power outage. |

Despite how the original question was worded, he's actually looking for a way to reset the TV, not the remote. _________________ Rob
