But how do you like the transport keys being up at the top of the remote, I've got to imagine that that makes them very hard to use on a regular basis. |
Not the best, but not so bad, either. I can still reach all the transportable & menu navigation buttons without repositioning the remote in my hand.

Ok so with all that said can anyone enlighten me to what needs to be done to the 6131nw to make it JP1 compat, if anything? It seems like this one might be the best way to go for me. Are they readily available? |

I'm not underestimating it at all (and I'm certainly not going to be the one to do it either) but that doesn't mean that somebody won't do it sometime or other. Mike E. is looking into it at the moment.

The mod should be the same as it is for the older URC-6131, and there's a file describing that mod here:
