Hello all,
This is my first post and I just want to tell you folks that I have already learned so much from this message board. Thanks. I have been reading all I can about JP1 hacking for about 3 months now.
I bought my first 9960/bj6 about three months and my wife told me in no uncertain terms that I could not mess up that remote. So I got myself another 9960B01. I wanted the ability to turn off the motion sensor. This one is a 9960b01-9960bj4. I get either of two messages when downloading from the device. "No data found in signature." or "No definition file could be found for this remote (SAKAS0_^)." I have the latest RDFs that I can find (1.17) and have IR RDF path set to this directory. I have tried all three and when I try the ones with extenders, I get the "no data in signature" message. If I try the one with no signature I get "No definition file could be found" message. I am getting some data in the "Raw Data" tab I have mostly FFs with other hex codes here and there.
It seems that I do not have the proper RDF for this remote. I remember reading about a special RDF for the B01 but can now not find that post.
I am able to download/upload from my wife's 9960 bj6.
I'm using IR 6 and USB from filebug, new batteries, 977/980 resets performed several times. Nothing seems to help.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Hi, did you change anything before you upload? The version 11 of USB chip is having problems.... the problem will not be discovered unless you change something before you upload. If you download from your remote and then upload the same thing to the remote, the problem will not surface up. I suspect that the upload is not working, so if you don't change anything, the code in the remote is always the same as the code in IR.exe, so the code comparision will return true. _________________ Get the coolest diy gadgets from http://www.diygadget.com today!

Sorry prelude,
I did not get to upload to my wifes remote.
I was however able to download from it. I have the "image" saved.
Is there a way to upgrade the USB chip's firmware? Is it available.
BTW
I have reset the B01 using 981 and still no go.
Seems that everytime I try to download from the remote and then pick it up, all the lights are on until i press a button and then I do a reset and all is well. |

I don't think so. The USB chip from delcom is EPROM, which can only be programmed once. I am currently working with delcom to get the problem resolved. Probably they can release a new USB driver to fix the problem. I will keep everyone updated.

Hmm, you can give the B01 to your wife
Here are other links may help you to disable motion sensor:

Hi
I have the same problem . I have a 9960 B01 and last week I bought a new 9960 but is a BJ4 and the ir.ex doesn't recognize the remote.
I have the last rdf file definition , but i think the problem is that this is a different model ( see the massage SAKASO.... ) and it is not in the rdf file definition.
I am using a parallel cable the same that i use with the B01.

Same problem here. Brand new URC-9660/BJ5 from BB. I get the exact same error(s) as related in the first post of this thread. I am using a cable built from a 'standard kit' bought at jp1.filebug.com. The cable works flawlessley with my Cinema7.
If anyone has any insight or ideas, I am more than willing to try them out.

Looks like some of the BJ4's work. I just got one off of ebay, soldered in the header, and it works like a champ. This BJ5 is going back to Best Buy. |

Hi,
I have the exact same problem as the in the 1st post.
Mr remote says "URC9960B01" on the back.
I'm using a simple cable that works great with my RCU810.
I'll keep reading.

For people who get the 2nd message (ie, the SAKAS0 message), try this RDF...

Hi Robman,
Thanks for your reply!
Still no luck.
Most of these error messages probably don't mean anything, but I'll post them.
When using "BJ Sakaso" RDF...
Quote: | ]"No data Found in signature"
Bad checksum at address $0FFE. Expected $90 $6F, But found $FF $FF
List index out of bounds (-1) |
When using "BO1 RDF"...
Quote: | "No data Found in signature"
Bad Checksum adress $0000. Expected $90 $6f, but Found $FF $FF
The Fav/Scan list contains too many entried. This will be truncated. |
When using "Kasakaso RDF" ...
Quote: | ]"No data Found in signature"
The EEprom size detected by IR ($100) is incomapatable with the value specified in the RDF file ($1000)....
Bad checksum, expected $90 $6F, but found $FF $FF |
Maybe it's time to take this one to BB for an exchange.

Don't use any RDF, download the data and post it, then I'll take a look at it. _________________ Rob
