Have you tried using IR to download from the remote to see if it recognizes it as another model?

We do not have an RDF for TAN0TAN0 so the absolute first step is for you to post your IR file (in the Diagnosis Area, then post a link) so we can look at it. We can provide a starter RDF for you, but you'll have to finish it by programming macros and then fixing the button codes.

Just found the remote again.
Here is the IR for the urc-7740 http://www.zweckstetter.de/urc7740.ir
Signature: TAN0TAN0
Processor: Samsung S3C8+
Interface: JP1

generated with IR 8.00

I currenty use an URC-7560. There is no problem getting the macros with this remote (in learning mode), and transfering the settings to the urc-7740, right?

Here's a starter RDF:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=6846

Could you try programming a macro (ie, 995 function) or keymove (ie, 994 function) so I can see where they go in the memory.

Could you also try changing the VPT (volume punch through, 993 function) so I can see which bytes are used to control that.

Post a new IR file with your results. Btw, you can post it in our file section if you like.

In order to get the right button codes, you would need to create macros which contain all of the buttons on the remote (and keep a list of what buttons are in the macros).

995 and 994 does not to work (no diff in .ir file)
this .ir file
http://www.zweckstetter.de/urc7740-993_sat_tv.ir
contains a Magic 993 from sat to tv

I iterated the efc map in RemoteMaster, uploaded the upgrade to the 7740 and checked the buttons with my 7560. You can see the resulting keymap in the functions of this rmdu file

can you do 993's to each of the 3 device modes so I can see all the results.

I don't understand what you did with the RMDU file.

Just FYI, the buttons and keymaps in the RDF that I created are for another remote, they're not right for your remote.

http://www.zweckstetter.de/urc7740-993_all_to_tv.ir
contains the 993 from VCR,DVD and SAT to TV

I noticed the mismatch in the keymaps and just wantetd tu give you the right mapping in the rmdu.

Can I change the Buttons in the RDF myself (there is a field called checksums that iritated me), or are there tools to create /change this.

You misunderstood what I was looking for regarding the 993 stuff, I would need to see 4 separate IR files, one where you set VPT to TV, another where you set it to SAT, another where you set it to VCR and finally one where you turned it off.

Regarding the button codes, let's first confirm that 994 and 995 really don't work, what happens when you try to use them?

If they really don't work, do you think you can open the remote? I ask because sometimes the button codes are printed on the PCB.

Regarding 994 and 995: nothing happens; no difference in ir file and macro is not working

Do you need the 995 to find the button codes?

You always mention 2 device modes in the 993 operations, whereas there's only one. Each of your samples ends with "TV" and the results are always the same.

There's only one device mode in a 993 operation and that's the mode that you've assigned the VPT to. All that gets stored in the EEPROM is the one mode.

Yes, I could use the keymoves or macros to find the button codes. As that isn't going to work, could you try opening the remote to see if the codes are printed?

I thougt there are differnces using the 993 in the device modes. I pushed sat, then Magic 993 tv to get urc7740-993_sat.tv.ir
I did the same with dvd_tv and vcr_tv.
the diff is showing me, that there are changes, but I can't interprete them.
For the following ir's I pushed Magic 993 sat for the urc7740-993_sat.ir (and so on)

I could not open the 7740 (without force) but I've got all button codes except for the blue button with this method:
I build an update for the 7740 with Protocol NEC1 and assigned the efc 0 to the button 0, efc 1 to button 1 , and so on.
Then I uploaded this update with ir.exe and learned the button setting with the 7560.
At last I compared the learned codes with the reference in the update and the button codes in the starting rdf.

This is the mapping I found:
Code:

bcode   rdf     efc     learned button

the blue button is not sending any signal. I asume, the button code is not in the rdf.

I've added the VPT setting to the RDF and I've made a guess as to the settings for the individual VPT device modes. Do the instructions in the manual describe how you can turn off VPT for an individual device mode?

I appreciate all the work that you've tried to do regarding the button codes, but that's not going to get me the real button codes.
