Hello. I have a URC 9910 and a URC 8910. Not much diference between the two other than a RF extender.
I have just started getting into configuring the 9910 via the JP1 connection.
I just loaded the extender v1.1 for it. Which works great, except it does not support learning. The reason I loaded this extender is the toad toggle. I have a reciever that needs a discreate on/off. Therefore, any device that I don't have a code for, I have to learn signals with the 8910 and attempt to create device upgrades from Keymap-Master.
I have a Honeywell pedistal fan that has an ifrared remote. I can learn this command and it works fine. I attempted to create a device upgrade and followed the Upgrade from scratch instructions from this site.
The device doesnt operate the fan though.
I also have an alarm clock that has a remote snooze. I can learn this command and it works fine too. But when I create a device upgrade for it doesn't operate it either.
Here is the raw information from IR.exe
Honeywell Fan

OFF:
+636 -1914 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +1908 -642 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +636 -22316 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +1908 -642 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +636 -1914 +636 -1914 +1908 -642 +636 -22316
Alarm Clock:
+20 -496 +20 -2188 +20 -3078
The solution I am looking for is for me to understand how to convert learned codes into device upgrades or....
I would not install the extender and I can keep the learning function. But I need to know how to add the toadtog protocol to the remote. I would also need to know how to create a shift button (the set button is too small and i have to push it twice).
Any and all Help is really appreciated. I am just getting into this and I am stuck.
Thank you.

Mark,
To answer your question on shift, when using the extender you can change which button acts as shift. On the right hand side of the first tab (General) in IR there are a list of settings like "Transport Device" and "Volume Device". One of these is "Shift Button Keycode", this defaults to a value of "2" which is the set key. You can change this to a different value to match one of the other keys, a complete list of keycodes for the remove is in the "KeyCodes.htm" file included with the extender. (Clearly if you need shift you have to assign it to a non-shifted physical key). Alternatively if you want to leave set as shift, and want a second shift key, then you can use the "alt shift button keycode" making sure the "alt shift" setting is "ordinary", but this stops you having an xshift button.
For the learning problem, I can't help, but having read a fair bit on these boards can give you some advice on getting this sort of thing answered promptly. That's not to say someone won't come along and give you a full and complete answer just on the information you've given, but you can cut down on the need to come back and ask further questions etc.
Have you read the code search FAQ and checked if someone else has already created the upgrade you want? If you have it's good to say so.
You don't mention much about the upgrade you tried to create. What were the basic details you used e.g. Protocol, device/subdevice
Finally the experts on these things seem to often like to look at the .IR file from the remote which has the Learnt commands in it. So it's a good idea to read the guide on posting links to files and then upload a copy of your .IR file to the diagnosis area and include a link rather than post the raw data from IR.
Good luck with finding your upgrades. |

Mark,
We never need to see the raw timing data when we're trying to help someone with a decode. Did IR.exe display any info regarding the protocol, device code, etc used by these devices? If so, please post THAT info. If not, please post a copy of the IR.exe download in the Diagnosis Area, then please post a link to the file (after reading the thread that explains how to post links to Yahoo files, as you will almost certainly post a bad link if you don't read it first) _________________ Rob

I gave the decodes you posted a superficial look and I am pretty sure that it is the same Honeywell fan that I decoded for Dan Arnold. I posted the file with a Protocol Builder text file, KM master device and protocol upograde and a spreadsheet that will describe how the commands work.
You only need to load the device upgrade into KM change to your remote and copy the device AND protocol upgrade and test. Maybe Dan (who has been active here in thte past) perfected the upgrade. It's been almost two years since I did this, so I don't remeber any details, but this should give you a template to get what you want. _________________ -Jon |
