|
|
Hello,
Has anyone set the Housecode function for X.10 Automation (0167) using an Outlaw Audio remote ? For example, with my regular X.10 remote, I first program the house code=B since I had used the default A for something else. Then all my codes worked properly. WHen I set my Outlaw Remote to control my X.10 automation, the functions don't work, and I'm sure it's because I need to set the house code first. But I can't find out how to set that.
Thanks,

The 0167 code is used to control an IR543 box. With the IR543 box, you set the house code on the box itself, there is no way to set the house code with the remote. _________________ Rob

I have set the 0167 code in my RS16-2104 but I can't find it documented on what keys to use to turn a given numbered unit on and off (bright/dim, etc). |

power = all lights on
mute = all off
vol+ = brighten
vol- = dim
ch+ = on
ch- = off
1 thru 9 = unit 1 thru 9
0 = unit 10
rew = unit 11
play = unit 12
ffwd = unit 13
record = unit 14
stop = unit 15
pause = unit 16 _________________ Rob

Rob,
I have a plug-in transceiver similar to this one:
http://www.x10.com/products/x10_tm751.htm
In fact, it may be that one. And it understands IR codes from the remote that came with my kit. Isn't there a way to send the same codes from my Universal that it will understand ?

No it doesn't... the X10 remote uses an RF signal to talk to the transceiver. To use X10 with IR signals, you need the IR543, which converts IR signals from the remote to the X10 powerline commands used by the various modules. _________________ Mark |

Yes, you are right. Thanks for the reminder Mark. Too bad they don't make the Universals with RF built in - but I guess that would cost a bit more...

It's not necessarily the cost (at least not the manufacturing cost), but the restrictions imposed by the FCC. Every RF device is essentially a radio transmitter, and as such is governed (in the US at least) by FCC regulations.
Ever notice the FCC ID number on a device (look at the back of that X10 remote)? That's a dead giveaway that it's a transmitter of some sort, and the ID grants it the ability to transmit only on a given frequency at a given power. _________________ Mark |
