Am using atlas urc 1054 1k ext1
Have a couple challenges:
- Trying to get volume to just all goto AUD... not working.
Other Settings V Device = AUD
Have tried device choosing macros with and without V_AUD
but volume only works when in AUD device mode
- On this atlas 5-device remote, can I use the F1 F2 F3 keys?
cant get them to do anything. Same with A B C buttons.
- Shift doesnt seem to work (using setup key)
also tried defining Settings button as a shift key ($18 same as 24)
but still not getting shifting to work
- In fact, no macros Ive defined have worked, except for the Device choosers (sans the volume control)
Using the extender is great, because I can fit all my device upgrades into memory now... but without proper volume/macros, its useless at same time.
thanks for your jp1 support !

Post your files please.
What was the original signature of your remote, before loading the extender? What is the complete model number of the remote? It sounds like you may be using the wrong RDF or wrong extender. |

Well I did a 981 reset... then download from remote.
An IR reported its a:
Atlas 5-device URC-1054 SA_7 JP1 1K
I dont know howto check signature, there is no model number on it.
I can use the non-extender programming just fine, but I run out of key move space.
So, main problem is cant get vpt to work... it only works in aud mode.
also what is shift? cant get any shifts to work.
No luck with macros except on device keys.

If you have RMIR, you can see the remote signature in the Raw Data tab to the right of the Hex Edit panel. It is also encoded in the first eight bytes of hex data. Your remote has a signature of "SA_71Kx1" according to your uploaded files anyways. I'm not sure if that was recorded before or after you did the 981 reset though. _________________ Remotes; JP1.2: Comcast URC-1067, JP1.3: Insignia NS-RC02U-10A, JP1.4 OARI06G, JP2.1: Cox URC-8820-MOTO (still trying to figure out how to make them self-aware.) |

It says 1054BA3
A053602
on battery door.
So, I dont really have evidence the extension is actually running...
remove batts, replace them, just get 2 blinks
hitting power or select doesnt get 4 blinks. |

Sounds about right at least according to that page. Although, I don't know how to tell if you have a 1k or 2k model. I guess it depends on whether or not you upgraded it. This thread (http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8508) also does a pretty good job at helping someone to identify which Atlas they have .

In the file you uploaded, the extender's signature replaced the original signature. So, you should have the extender installed. At least at the time you downloaded the image from the remote. The question is if you have it activated. This is an excerpt of the written instructions for the respective extender.
Install.txt wrote: | 12) To activate the extender on the remote, you must press the Select key (which is defined to activate the extender only in the default device, which is CBL). Don't worry if you have a Macro or KeyMove on the Select key, nor that you can't see (in IR) the KeyMove activating the extender. That one key move is in the old KeyMove memory area that is used only before the extender is active. ExtInstall copied all your KeyMoves and Macros (from old.txt) into the new KeyMove area (within new.txt) and only that area is visible in IR (with the extender's RDF file).
13) The activation should blink one of the LED indicators four times,
after which the extender should continue to run until the next battery or IR reset.

Exactly! Hitting select after power up doesnt yield 4 blinks.
I dont think the extender is running.
no macros work, except for device selects.
no VPT, etc...

Did you switch to "Cable" then hit "Select"?

If that still doesn't work, I would recommend
- perform a remote reset.
- Download an the reset image from the remote.
- Save a copy of it.
- Install the extender
- Save a copy of it.
- Install your devices
- Save a copy of it
- Upload the image to your remote
- activate the extender
- test it.
- Download a copy of the image and save it
If that doesn't work, zip up the four saved images and upload it to our diagnostic section. Btw, which tool and version of the tool are you using to install the extender, RM or RMIR? _________________ Remotes; JP1.2: Comcast URC-1067, JP1.3: Insignia NS-RC02U-10A, JP1.4 OARI06G, JP2.1: Cox URC-8820-MOTO (still trying to figure out how to make them self-aware.) |

I just looked at your IR file and there is no extender code in it at all. So it's no wonder you can't activate it. I don't know what you did, but you have to follow the extender instructions to the letter.
If you're out of keymove space, just put some of your additional functions on non-keymove keys, like the PIP keys or other unused keys not marked with a * in RM. Shifted keys and * keys are always keymoves. Also delete any keymoves you don't need. For example, you have keymoves for 9 tv inputs, yet you only have 6 devices, so delete those inputs you never use. |

Funny how the evidence always points to the problem!
Thanks for spotting that. Thought I read (maybe IMIR) the extender was hidden so I didnt question it... Thanks and its working OK now.
Little disapointed with the 1054 in having to long press or press double to get my DVR622 to take commands...

Glad you got it working. Sounds like low batteries or IR interference to me. I have no such problem with my Dish DVRs. |

The best is the URC-8910 or 9910. But I haven't seen one for sale anywhere in a while. Your best bet is probably a wanted post here in the marketplace forum because all JP1 EEPROM remotes have been discontinued for years.
Even if you have to pay $18-$30 for a new cable, you can get a very good JP1.3 remote to go with it for $8-$20. So the grand total isn't much more than paying out the nose for a rare obsolete model. You'll have no choice if you ever have to get a new computer since parallel ports are also obsolete. |
