|
|
I've had a URC-6131 for a while now and have a number of macros defined using the IR tool, some on shifted keys, some on unshifted keys. It's been several weeks since I made any changes to it but decided to add a new macro today. I first downloaded the current data in the remote and everything looked fine. I created the new macro and uploaded the new data to the remote but when I tried it the macro had no effect. I then tried another of my old macro keys and discovered it no longer worked. In fact, none of my macro keys worked, neither the shifted keys or the unshifted keys.
I downloaded the remote again with IR and the macros are definitely defined but they don't appear to have any affect, the keys act dead.
I've discovered a lot of other things are messed up as well. For example, the Power button is set to turn the TV off if the current device is TV or PVR. However, it only appears to work when TV is the selected device; when PVR is selected, the power button doesn't do anything. Likewise the TV/Video button is no longer defined the way I had it (I had this defined to show the TV's video selection menu regardless of which device is selected).
Curiously, the Vol+/Vol- buttons still work properly; they're set to change the volume of my sound system regardless of which device is selected. In fact, this was the last key I programmed back in December, using a key move command directly from the remote, not through IR.
Now that I think about it, I have a vague recollection about the key move command and IR, some kind of incompatibility. Can anyone confirm this?
I've tried restoring a backup copy of the remote's configuration back before I used the key move command to assign the volume buttons. As expected, the volume buttons no longer control my sound system volume but instead the volume of the TV (which was the way I had it configured at the time). However, the macros still don't seem to work. For example, I have Shift-PVR assigned the macro
TV;TV/Video;Up_Arrow;Select;PVR
but the macro doesn't do a thing anymore. What's going on here?
Note: I do not have the 6131 extender installed. _________________ 2 Hughes 157 hour DTiVos

If you saved the IR configuration file that contains the new changes, you can try resetting the remote and then upload the file back to it. _________________ Mark |

How do you reset the remote? I don't see a command for this in the manual. _________________ 2 Hughes 157 hour DTiVos

Press and hold Set until the LED blinks twice. Then enter 9-8-1. The LED should blink 4 times (2 sets of 2 blinks). This restores the remote to its factory configuration. _________________ Mark |

I've posted the current data for my remote here:

Some things I've noticed:
Many of your keymoves that use the TV device type are using setup code 0702, but your TV device uses TV setup code 0060. Try changing the setup code for these keymove to 0060.
Also, many of these keymoves are single-byte, which means you either created them manually as a "copy function from one key to another" in the remote, or you entered them incorrectly in IR, since the un-extended 6131 uses 2 bytes for EFC keymoves.
FYI, I find it much easier to use the extender, just so I don't have to worry about the unusual keymove format. It's also nice to get the other benefits of the extender (especially macros on device keys). _________________ -- Greg

Okay, got it working again. I reset the remote and uploaded my data again and everything appears to be functioning properly, including my new macro.
As for the extender, yeah I agree I should probably get my act together and get it installed. I had intended to originally but once I got the remote working to my satisfaction it became less of a priority.
Thanks for the help.
