Rob,
I really appreciate you creating the pronto codes and the upgrade file. I can also test the upgrade file with the tv from my end. |

Rob,
I tested the upgrade file with the tv. All buttons worked. Thank you so much for your work. |

Rob,
Should we name the upgrade file "Sharp X68000 Monitor" instead since the monitor came with the Sharp X68000 computer? Based on info at link below, the IR Codes should work with all X68000 monitors. The link also lists x68000 monitors although not all of them.

Great, thanks for testing, and I have renamed the upgrade per your suggestion. _________________ Rob

I have just written a protocols.ini entry for this Sharp variant. Could you please add this to your protocols.ini file and test it. I've also loaded a new RMDU file that uses this. In addition, I've added some gap OBCs to the file, and assigned them to the numeric buttons. If you're willing, please load this into your remote and see if the numeric buttons do anything? Usual warnings apply when testing gap OBCs, because we don't know what they might do.

I added the entry to my protocol.ini and updated my device with your new upgrade file. All buttons still worked.
I got these responses when OBCs below were pressed and got no response for remaining OBCs.
OBC 3 = Unmute
OBC 5 = Undo the press of button "TV/Computer" or "Hidden" or turn off "Digital" led on monitor
OBC 7 = Channel 4
OBC 28 = Channel 1
OBC 29 = Channel 2
OBC 30 = Channel 3 |

Thanks Skusuma, could you verify if OBC3 always un-mutes, or is it really a mute toggle?
And just for my curiosity, what do the tv/pc, tv/video, ch display and hidden buttons really do? And if obc 5 turns of "Digital", how do you turn on digital?
What do the numeric buttons do? And do those last 4 obcs just do the same as the numeric buttons? Like, is OBC 7 (ch 4) the same as OBC 19 (4) ? Why does this device have "10", "11" and "12" buttons? I would normally expect you to have to enter a "1" and a "2" to reach channel 12, for example. What sort of "channels" does a monitor have anyway? I've always assumed a "monitor" was just a TV with no built in TV receiver.
I ask these questions to that I can give these OBCs the best possible labels in the final upgrade file, so that a future user who doesn't have the OEM remote might best understand what they do. _________________ Rob

OBC 3 always unmute. It won't do anything if tv is not in mute.
TV/PC is to toggle between TV or PC mode (PC Mode: if the PC video cable is connected to Analog port, it'll display video signal from pc)
TV/Video is to toggle between TV or Video mode (Video mode: the monitor display video signal connected to video jack connector of tv)
Hidden is toggle on off computer mode but it's not toggling between TV and PC like TV/PC button.
Yes, the last 4 obcs are the same as buttons 1,2,3,4. I think remote can't go to channel 10 for example by pressing 1 and 0. |

Would it be fair to call obc 5 a discrete TV mode button, if it returns the monitor to TV mode from PC mode? Does it also return to TV mode if you're in Video mode?
What does "computer mode" mean (re: the Hidden button) if it's different to what the TV/Computer button does?
Is this device really just a monitor if it has TV channels? What makes it different to any other TV set?
And what does the "CH Display" button do? Does it just display the channel number on the screen like any other DISPLAY button, or does it do something different? _________________ Rob

The button won't return from Video to TV mode but only from PC to TV mode. The hidden button will turn on the Digital led and the obc 5 can turn it off but it can't turn it back on)
Quote: | What does "computer mode" mean (re: the Hidden button) if it's different to what the TV/Computer button does? |
The hidden will only toggle on/off the Digital led but it seems not changing to PC mode. I think the monitor manual will explain better the PC/Computer and Hidden buttons.

I believe it can be as a tv as well as it has RF jack connector and AV composite jack connectors. I'll attach the manual.

It's to turn on/off the channel/mode layover text. Whenever you go to a specific channel, it'll display the channel number text and it won't go away until you press the CH Display button.

The manual doesn't explain the hidden button. It seems to behave differently for each monitor model.
The OBCs I think they are not so useful for my monitor CZ-600DB. They may behave differently and useful for other models. |

I get it, CH Display is really Channel Guide.
I think I'll label "hidden" as Digital LED on, and obc 5 as Digital LED off (and add a comment that it will also undo TV/Computer).
Thanks for the manual link, but as the PDF is just a collection of images rather than raw text, Google doesn't translate it. But that's ok, I've got enough to make the RMDU as useful as possible. Thanks for all your help. _________________ Rob
