Hello,
I have a new 3661 and I am trying to send a DSM realtime.
I created that macro on device DVD, button "Search".
However, when I press DVD and then Search, nothing happens.
Can somebody help me please?
Thank you!
EDIT
I downloaded the actual configuration back from the remote and the macro is not there. That means that my macro was not accepted/saved by the remote, doesn't it?
EDIT #2
In the meantime I found that it is only realtime macro that isn't sent. Normal oder DSM without timing seems to be working.
Edit #3
A realtime macro programmed directly on the remote (app key) works. However, that is not shown in RMIR after downloading from remote.
Edit #4
Multi macros are also not working.

I have now tried several more times and have had no success with the timed macros. I don't know what I am doing wrong or if my remote is not working properly. They are not stored. |

Are you running the latest Remote Master?
Your macro looks very strange. You have 16 second delays every few steps for a total runtime of nearly 2 minutes. Was that your intention? I've never attempted to program a macro that long in duration. |

Thank you, mdavej.
Of course those values are not from my original macro. I don't know why there is this long delay every step in the download. Also, those are not my original programmed keypresses.
Yes, latest version of RMIR 2.14.15.
Is there something wrong in the original RDF for 3661? |

The onn. Universal 6-Device Remote currently being sold by Walmart looks superficially like the URC-3661 but I don't think it is a UEI product. https://www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Universal-6-Device-Remote/767159183
There is no JP1 connector nor any pads for one visible in the battery compartment. The button layout is actually quite different than the 3661 layout. One obvious difference is that the red power button is at the top left rather than top right. Another easy difference to spot is that the RGYB buttons are labeled ABCD rather than having activity icons. _________________ Jim Henry |

I think i deleted the segment once and it freed up the activities buttons but that is not the safest way to do it.
Since i have been playing with activities and since i do not use them
i found a work around to use the activities buttons.
First I put a macro on watch tv. I put dev 4 upload it to remote then download it
The purpose for this is to make my macro part of the original data
Then click preserve original data delete the watch tv assignment segment click apply then upload I now can use the watch tv for something else including using it as a device key by a macro of just dev 4 or for other macros. This procedure needs to be repeated with preserve data if you change something in your setup. since the watch tv will be put back on future downloads
Once you get to know how to do this it is pretty simple to repeat |
This is an interesting idea. I tried this but couldn't get the macro I assigned to "Watch TV" to trigger after deleting the Watch TV segment (it was right under Type 1A and had Type CD). Were you assigning macros manually on the remote or in RMIR after this process? |

It Is an interesting Hack but im sure the experts would not approve
Yes i made macro in RMIR You Probably missed a step
If done wrong the remote will be reset with none of your data but no damage to remote |

You're right, I added a step and it seems the order is crucial. I had changed the macro on the activity button after deleting the segment.
After some playing around, this will work for all three activity buttons, and here are the instructions I wrote down for myself:
1) Download from Remote or load RMIR file
2) Make all setup changes, put desired macro(s) on Activity buttons
3) Save RMIR file
4) Uncheck Preserve Original Data
5) Upload to remote
6) Download from remote
7) Check Preserve Original Data
8) Delete Activity Assignment segments (see figure, Type CD, CE, CF under Type 1A)
9) Click Apply
10) Upload to remote
11) Test Macro on Activity button
Note:
Do not make any setup changes after assignment segments have been deleted. You must start back on step 1 for any changes to setup or Activity macros. Do not save to RMIR file after deleting assignment segments.
I would appreciate any feedback if there are any corrections to this. You're also right that this is kind of a funky workaround, but in the right circumstances, it might help someone.

Looks like you have it under control.
Being a funky workaround make this hack a Non-Feasible solution for most people, at least that's what i think
Glad you figured it out though
To me this approach is best for remote setups that are not changed often
more of a set it, document it,and leave it alone as your final setup for you system
At least until you add/change more devices to your system |

Agree. I like this solution for this remote because it allows you to use the Activity buttons for setup features (turn TV, set input, etc) and then put a MultiMacro on the Power button to turn everything off. The power button long press when using an Activity didn't work well for me since my STB is a Roku and the power button controls the TV, so it essentially sent the TV power button twice and ended up turning it off and then back on.
There's other ways to work around that, of course, when using the activity feature, but I'm trying to make it easy for the rest of the family... |

Basically Re purposing the activity keys for whatever you desire without the activity being triggered |

I will see if I can find a way to incorporate this "hack" into the next version of RMIR that is currently under development, as it does seem useful and adds yet another feature to what has already proved to be a very versatile remote. _________________ Graham |

Wow That is really nice of you.
The way the procedure is performed seems difficult to apply to RMIR
My hats off to you for even attempting this
When ever i have some free time I take one of these remote and see
if there is any other "Hack/Feature" to discover.
So far i have found none which makes me work harder at it.
I have a few ideas yet and I will keep attempting |
