While playing around with my 9910 today I tried downloading from the remote and got no response followed by this error message:
"failed to open jp1.x interface"
What is this error? I am using a parallel JP1 cable I made myself several years ago, which has worked without problems. I thought at first I must have a problem with this cable, but my computer is set up as a "dual boot" system with Windows XP and Windows 98. This error occurred while in Windows XP, and if I boot to Windows 98, I have no problems. There are also no problems with the parallel port as I use an old parallel printer which uses this port without problems.
Is there a file that's corrupt? What can I do to address this? It is annoying to have to reboot just when I want to use the JP1 cable.
TIA

Well, I am not sure I understand these settings, but the IR setting had been "jp1.x" and I changed it to "JP1 EEPROM autodetect"
This seems to have solved the problem.

The "settings" are for IR to know what kind of remote it is trying to talk to. The 8910 is a JP1. Most newer remotes are JP1.1 or JP1.2 or JP1.3, collectively called JP1.X, and use a different cable and interface. For THOSE types of remotes, you would select JP1.x. For your 8910, you should always select JP1 EEPROM autodetect (in some odd cases, you have to TELL IR what the EEPROM size is, but with the 8910 it works fine autodetecting.) _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first
