To make things more convenient for JP1 users, RM tries to pretend that keymoves are part of an upgrade The section of IR.EXE that recieves upgrades from RM tries to support that view.

But other parts of the process do not support the view that keymoves are part of an upgrade. Even when using the JP1 cable you'll notice gaps in that illusion.

When using .wav files, keymoves aren't part of upgrades at all.

Even after you correct whatever you're doing wrong (sorry I couldn't tell from your description) in getting wav data from IR to the remote, you still need to decide either:

1) Transfer just the upgrade area without any keymoves

or

2) Build the entire config you want within IR.exe with all the basic settings, macros, keymoves, upgrades, etc. and transfer the entire eeprom image by wav.

It is possible to leave out the basic settings and the learned signals and just transfer upgrades, keymoves and macros. But the UI doesn't make that approach very clear, and it still must be ALL the keymoves and macros, not just the ones associated with the upgrade(s). You can add some keymoves while preserving and keymoves or macros previously in the remote.

OK, well I'm kinda glad it didnt work then, because my initial setup for my Technics audio device took a lot of customising with a JP1 cable a few years back, and I'll be stuffed if I can remember it now and I dont have a backup. I'll make do with the current config using advanced codes and keymoves.

It's all working and I am totally blown away by how helpful these forums are, if only other forums were as usefull! Cheers guys.

You should still consider getting yourself another JP1 cable, if for no other reason than to make a backup of what you have right now. (Of course, once you have the cable, you'll be tempted to do alot more with it! :) )
