Just so the issue doesn't become confusing for someone less informed than the two of us. Are you saying that if the user had called their upgrade DVD/0571 you would have referred to it as such? Of course you wouldn't, because you know that that code is oficially used for Pioneer DVDs, and furthermore you know that the official code for this player is DVD/0651.

My point once again is that when any reference to setup code numbers should be limited to official setup code numbers.

If a newbie were to try out a use created upgrade and they have questions on it, I'm asking them to refer to the file by it's name (and a link would be nice) rather than the code number the user just happens to have used, unless you know that this is the official code number.

Agreed.

As I understood it, you seemed to be saying that David should ignore the setup code number 0651 in those upgrades because it is just an arbitrary number selected by the users who created those upgrades (one of whom was you).

I was trying to say that in THIS case, it is not an arbitrary number selected by that user. It is an official UEI setup code number for UEI's very similar setup code which is not available on the desired OFA model.

The user (you) used the UEI setup code number AND put that setup code number in either the filename or the description as a hint that this upgrade largely matches an official UEI upgrade and is most useful for those models that lack that upgrade (or as a starting point for someone who wants to relayout the keys of that official setup code).

I haven't checked many of them, but I would hope all the other upgrade files that have their setup code displayed in the filename or description do it for that same reason.

Since there were several files that were each basically reconstructions of UEI's DVD/0651, I tried to refer to them collectively as reconstructions of UEI's DVD/0651 rather than list all the filenames.
