Hi all,

Great site and even more awesome that there is all this support for it.

I just got an RS-2116 and a JP1 cable from Hovis and I have already programmed in all my macros and I have done the learning from each remote.

My question is how do I get the TV to not turn off when I am switching from DVD or TV or SAT or VCR. Can I use the discrete codes. I have programmed a macro for each function; example:

My_System (macro-bound)

TV = Power (Hitatchi 51S500)
TV/Video = (to change the input on the tv to sat)
SAT = (not assigned, always on) just for reference
Audio = (guide, change to this button cause rec'vr doesn't have a code in the manual for the 21-116 - the rec'vr is an Onkyo TXSR501, so I pgmed the power button to the guide button)
Audio = left (changed to this button to set rec'vr to video 1 mode)

Ok..now when I am switching from VCT to DVD or from DVD to My system (SAT) the TV switches off.

What am I doing wrong?

I hope that I have provided all the info needed, if not let me know what else is needed.

Thanks for all the help.

The best answer it to use the extender for the 2116 which will amongst other things let you put in ToadTogs which sets status bits which can assist in determining if a device is already on or needs to be turned on.

The simple answer is to take the power functions off the device buttons and use macros on the power button to turn one or more device on and off.

The best way to make sure you are providing all the needed information is to post your saved IR .txt file in the Diagnosis Area. That way we can look at exactly what you have done with your macros.

Here is the link to my txt file: mysystem_ver1.txt

Let me know how I can add the power commands to control the TV in the macro.

I am currently using macros just need a way to control the power on the tv and the rec'vr so that it does not turn off with each mode switch like from DVD to SAT or from VCR to DVD, etc.

Thanks

I also am not having any luck with the VPT..

I do have it enabled and it does show up in the LCD screen of the 15-2116 whenever I press vol but when its in another mode the vol does not work. I have to press audio to get it to work again.

Thanks for the help.
