Ok. I'm new to this and as so expect some criticism, I am a NooB after all. LOL. So here's my problem. I had an old 6-in-1 Radioshack kameleon remote and it died on me. A part that was necessary to light up the display broke off and I ended up throwing the remote out. I then went out and purchased a radioshack 15-2138 kameleon remote off ebay and expected to just call up and do a phone upgrade for my Windows media Center PC and my TV as the codes aren't in the device. When I called I realized that the phone upgrade service is no longer supported. In searching for an alternative I found this site and attempted to set up the software I needed to do a modem upgrade of my remote. I got KM working and installed (as far as I know everything I need) for IR.exe, but whenever I go into IR.exe it seems as if tabs are missing. I ran the sample file (FromRob) and now the tabs are there, but the program is now setup for the wrong remote, causing problems when I try to create the wav file. Is there a manual way to set my remote in IR.exe or is there a tutorial for creating the wav files? I searched the forums to no avail... I am trying to avoid buying or making a cable as money is tight and all I need is to upload two codes...

File - New - Select - RS 15-2138 Kameleon will give you the right remote. If you don't see it in the list, you need to download the RDF files and unzip them to a folder and pick that folder in IR - File - Set Directory. Read the beginner tutorial for using IR and KM. Once you learn how to load an upgrade into IR, just do File - Export to Wav. |

I had read the tutorials and missed this part or something. Most of what I read had wanted me to connect the cable and let it do an auto check of the remote. Thanks very much! |

That's because the vast majority of JP1 users use JP1 cables rather than creating WAV files, so the latter tends to get overlooked in our documentation. _________________ Rob
