|

I just picked up a URC-6690B00 and tried to program it via IR7 beta3. Most keys were not assigned properly. I tried rebooting and starting fresh without any special devices (from KM). Even with only assigning one built-in device (TV code 0150), the key assignments were mostly wrong. Resetting the remote did not help. Manually programming the remote for the same device, however, worked fine.
This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the RDF file for the URC6690. I am using 10361036 (URC-6690 Hybrid Kameleon).rdf dated 12/1/06. (I did notice minor issues with the VPT assignments). I don't know if this RDF problem also affects the latest mod to KM to include the URC6690.
(I also reloaded my URC-8820 just to verify the IR7 setup was still working properly).
I don't yet know enough to try fixing the RDF problem. Please help.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems while trying to program a URC-6690? (The problem occurs even without using KM at all, for built-in device programming. I can't figure out anything I did wrong or anything else wrong with my setup. URC-8820 programming works great using the exact same software (but different device complement and RDF file, of course).
If no one else has any suggestion, I'll just try to figure out which buttons are being programmed where, and will modify the RDF accordingly. I don't know what else to try. Again, I am mostly in hack mode, since I don't really understand all of the RDF data.
Fred
PS: I manually programmed the URC-6690 for my daughter to use at college (no problem there), but have a couple more remotes coming any day. |

I don't have one so can't help you but have found some errors in the RDF's in the past. Remember, they're a peer into the inner workings of the remote and often features that aren't used by the person who is doing the work don't get as much testing as those that are.
The easiest way to find out if things are right is to initialize the remote to a known state (981-style reset) and then change stuff via the remote setup functions. Add some macros, write them down, download to see which keys were used. Same for keymoves, VPT setup, HT setup, whatever. It's an interative process that takes a while.

I just received my second URC-6690 remote and tried programming it. This time it worked (at least partially). The only thing I can think of that was different, is that (1) the first remote may not have been in a full reset state, and (2) I may have selected the URC-6690 (RDF) from IR. This time, I read the new remote first, which properly loaded the RDF into IR (and preloaded certain device codes).
I am still having issues with a couple devices on the URC-6690:
Cyberhome CH-DVR-1600
Liteon DVR
One error said something about the keymap or buttons were invalid. I can't see anything wrong, however. Any thoughts? I haven't yet tried to see if the device works regardless of the error.

IR doesn't preload any device codes. Whatever is displayed is from the contents of the remote. When IR7 does a download, it checks the signature and automatically loads in the appropriate RDF.
Did you change the remote type to the URC-6690 for the CyberHome and Liteon upgrades before pasting them into IR7? |
